King is a dumbass. This ain’t scary but it’s great nonetheless.
I agree. What the hell are they talking about. You can see the James Randi character is still burned, he didn’t die from a knife wound from Jack.
I thought it was great. Didn’t see any hype for it, though.
Too bad he couldn’t be funny, though. You do know those shows are all bullshit.
Boring. Straight white males desperate to be pretend they’re anything but.
This movie looks like it’ll cause an epidemic of second hand embarrassment.
The problem is it’s boring, the story sucks, the animation sucks, and the songs mostly suck. Liza is great, though. Such a shame Disney in its prime didn’t handle this.
100%.
In the comics, in her early-ish appearances, it’s hinted that her powers will develop exponentially. But it never really happens and they just make her a lame vampire instead.
Oh, and I hope the new Bruce Timm Batman cartoon surprises me too. Who knows, maybe Asian Harley Quinn will be as inconsequential as nonbinary Morph. God willing.
Listen, I hate Disney too and think they’ve ruined everything they’ve touched, but every argument of yours is plain wrong, except about the framerate. 97 is not a remake at all, it’s a new season. It hasn’t remade any storyline from TAS. Is season 2 or any show a remake of season 1? Of course not. Storm’s look, like most comic characters that are decades old, changes over time. A lot. If you don’t like her mohawk, you’ll really hate the outfit she wore with it in the comics. I groaned at the mohawk too even though I liked it in the comic, because it was an important character development for Storm in the comic; it wasn’t just a new hairdo. But by the end of the show they’ve put her in her best, most timeless look.
Now, there are valid complaints about the show (iffy animation, blowing through decades worth of story way too fast, Magento’s creepy lips) but none of them add up to cash grab. How much money do you think this is even making Disney? Everything they touches turns to shit. Except this. I hope it has made them money but I doubt it, given how corrupt the business model is and how corrupt showbiz accounting is.
I understand your reaction as a non-comics fan but as a comics fan I have to disagree.
Both the different look and different powers. I actually love how the show slowly ditched the Jim Lee costumes for the Cockrum/Smith ones.
True
That’s my question, too. He was such a kind man, it doesn’t seem like it could be a cruel joke.
I assumed the kid didn’t count. He was the 11th right? I think at some point I assumed he was the original host. They didn’t satisfactorily explain what happened to OG Fat Guy. Where is his personality?
I liked the movie ok but you make great points. The rest of the movie has those absurdities too. It’s kind of “so bad, so good.” It’s a silly, silly movie.
It actually saved it for me. I remember being so disappointed with the DID/MPD twist the first time I saw it that I blocked out the second twist.
I think the movie would have been better if it just hinted at the DID/MPD stuff and it wasn’t so explicit. Let that be the frame, but let the innards be its own complete thing.
You’re nuts. This is light hearted, silly, wholesome fun. Maybe growing up with it helps, but I think it holds up.
Nudnik.
What a weird life you must lead, being a Disney apologist. They’ve clearly lost big money, before and since you wrote this.
In 2023 they had multiple, extremely humongous bombs! You do know the stated “budget” usually doesn’t include press and reshoots and “funny money stuff,” so it’s a good rule of thumb to double the budget of a big movie from a big studio.
What do you get out of it? A mega corporation that has been a net negative for the planet, but they slap rainbows on their merch and that’s good enough for you? I’m not putting words in your mouth, I’m genuinely just asking. I don’t get it. It’s like when super conservatives defend the defense industry.
This comment didn’t age well.
