Agreed. I don't mind them blatantly stealing a movie plot and calling it something else, but at least make sure your actors have some kind of chemistry with each other. This was so cold and boring. As a mother, I loved this movie. I'm not overweight and neither is my daughter and I started bawling from the time Willowdean was doing her "unauthorized" magic act in the pageant. I remember being so proud when my daughter did her first gymnastics show at the age of 5. That lump in my throat was HUGE and I couldn't stop the tears. The same with my son when he started t-ball. I think the weight issue was actually sub-text in this film (and I'm not a deep person at all). Loved this movie! Why has it "become too much"? I agree completely. I'm 50 and took my 23 year old daughter with me to see this and we both had tears streaming down our faces for the same reason: that would be the closest either of us would ever come to seeing Queen live. As soon as we got home, I pulled up the original Live Aid concert on YouTube and I was amazed at how closely replicated the film was with the movements and interaction with the audience. She is going to see it again tomorrow with a friend and I'm going at least one more time while it's still in theaters. And, yes, by FAR it was better than A Star if Born. I am also curious - what shows did you think were worthy of a high rating? I loved this series and gave it 10 out of 10. I'm about to watch it again with my daughter and looking forward to it. If you were happy with the ending of Lost or loved No Country For Old Men, Mulholland Drive, Vanilla Sky or She's So Lovely, I do not value your opinion at all, just sayin. To be perfectly clear, the only thing they did was take the names of the town, places and characters of the original comics - originally, they were pretty clean cut and wholesome and would not have made an interesting show in 2018. No, this show is NOTHING like the comics - I grew up reading them. I tried to watch the pilot of this show and gave up 20 minutes into because these characters are nothing like I remember. But then my daughter (who is in her 20's and has never read them) convinced me to give it a second chance and not to compare it to the comics. To be honest, nobody today would watch a show that was factually based on the original comics because it would be boring as hell. The only thing this show has done is taken the name of the town, local spots (Pop's Chock'Lit Shop, etc) and character names. Once I took my daughter's advice and "let it go", I was hooked. The show may be a little young for me, but I was still entertained with the plot twists. I agree with you completely and also gave it 1/10. The lack of emotion and "matter-of-fact" attitudes displayed by the family throughout this whole "movie" alone, made me give it only 1 star. If I could've given zero stars, I would have. What a waste of film. Couldn’t agree more. This was just disappointing, to say the least. One thing that bugged the crap out of me was the water heater. Why did they take the flashlight down there only to turn it off while fumbling for the matches to relight the pilot? And they both did that! Also, you wouldn’t instantly have cold water in the shower just because the hot water heater was turned off. Nor would you instantly have hot the second it’s turned back on.
