In superhero movies, and most action movies, the main characters are practically invincible. This is the norm.
Yeah I disliked that part. Guy is trying his best to support them and she decides the right move is to leave and take his kid when he is clearly struggling.
I really liked it. Great cinematography, visuals, acting, and realism of the ship that you can place yourself there. One of Ron Howard's best films or at least in the upper tier. Solid 8/10
Bad CGI.
Detroit Lions key chain going on 26 years. Has house keys, car keys, small 3 ft measuring tape, micro flashlight, and tiny Phillips and flat head screwdrivers. Thinking I need to add a bottle opener.
Hello!
You
No, everyone talks to themselves. The split personalities and running around naked in the streets make you seem insane.
It's OK at best. The plot and characters are so recycled I found it kind of boring. Throw it on in the background kind of movie.
Same.
Haha yup. Mikey wasn't too bright, but should have known better.
If they were worth a million in today's money, how much was Maitland moving? Mikey says there was a whole case of the stuff and only took a stack. Maitland moving like hundreds of millions in a wood crate? Damn.
It needed a better story and characters. The villains had very little backstory other than they were bad guys. Why should we care to hate them other than that they were bad. How did they come to power and why was the senate loyal to them? Why would anyone care about Lucius, he was not a hero of Rome, nor were the legions loyal to him. He wasn't inspirational so it was hard to root for him other than he was now deemed to be Maximus' son. His mother, who says she would do anything for her son, only cries for her husband when they are dueling. The "twist" at the end wasn't much of a twist at all, Denzel being a former slave and looking to become emperor.
It was entertaining in that Denzel being Denzel is always fun to watch and the action is pretty good. The opening battle sequence was outstanding. The sets, costumes, and armor look great too. But, other than that, it's missing a lot. I couldn't agree more with the call backs to the first films famous lines. It happens too much, and I literally rolled my eyes haha. I also can't stand it when films show clips of the previous movie like the audience can't remember. Stop showing scenes from Gladiator 1, we've all seen it and remember it, it's such lazy and poor storytelling. I would say 5 or 6/10 is spot on.
Yeah I was thinking the same, she was using her imagination to keep her going. We know it's not real when we see Richard get killed and then he disappears right after. One question I had was, why would the guy put the, I assume, emergency signal tool in his jacket pocket? Seems so likely that it could fall out. I would think you may want it on your person if you have to get in a life raft, but with the boat still intact, why wouldn't you keep it in the cabin or at least give it to the person in the cabin. Taking it out of the cabin seemed so nonsensical.
Love RLM. Too bad we never got the happy meal Superman ketchup toy, such a great idea!
Sounds like the sasquatch got them.
Yeah I agree, just OK pretty much sums it up for me. I thought the battles were pretty cool, but it lacks the performances, characters, music and story of the first one. It was mostly entertaining, but it's hard to not compare it the original which was such a fantastic film that it makes this movie seem much worse than it probably is. I would rate it a 6/10.
Watched it last night for the first time in years, still love it and find many scenes hilarious. So many quotable lines. The movie is just fun and has that little bit of seriousness in spots that great comedies need. All time classic in my book.
I got to go to the bathroom daddy, not now damnit! Truck tire, I can't stop!!
Not that time of life, but physically yes.
Yeah that makes sense it would keep the Dragon Prince title, but follow a different story, possibly different antagonists, since the main threat is gone.
Spoilers
Yeah I'm kind of glad it has wrapped up. I felt like there was a lot of filler and not much happening the last few seasons. Aaravos and his manipulation of others was certainly the most interesting part of the show. Without him I don't think there is much else to go on. They could do some type of flash forward to around his return, but that would seem kind of cheap since we just spent the last 7 seasons unraveling who he is, his motivations, and his "defeat." I thought the show was well written in a lot of spots, poorly in others, but overall it was entertaining. I'm not sure if I would watch a spinoff.
