You can't judge a film without seeing it!

Sorry folks, but you can't judge a film without seeing it. So stop it. Stop with your outrage and petitions. If you don't want to see the film, don't watch it. This is an award winning French film directed by a woman that got positive reviews from people who saw it, so I'm going to give it a chance.

reply

Have you watched child pornography to judge if it's good or bad..?

reply

Totally different things. This film is not child pornography.

reply

[deleted]

Totally different how...? Because porn is a type of film..
And I'm not arguing wether or not the movie is child porn.. I'm questioning your philosophy that "you can't judge a film without seeing it"...

reply

Child porn is not the same as a film. Child porn is illegal.

reply

Don't bother arguing with these nutjobs. They already made their mind about something they haven't seen.

reply

Buddy you are the nutjob from where I'm standing..

reply

What is a film..🀦
And are you even aware that pornography is not just a sex video..
Anyways are you saying if child porn wasn't illegal you would watch it to judge for yourself?

reply

isn't the trailer enough

reply

No, you can't judge a film just by the trailer.

reply

There is something wrong with anyone that can defend this: https://mobile.twitter.com/MaryMargOlohan/status/1303908536553017349

People aren’t judging the quality of the film- they’re judging the fact that it serves to normalize and ingrain pedophilia into mainstream culture. This is children being sexually performative for adults. That’s never okay and not something to be swept under the rug.

Who cares if it was directed by a woman? Women aren’t infallible. Professional movie reviewers have become a huge joke.

reply

No, there is something wrong with anyone that condemns a film they haven't seen. The film does not normalize pedophilia. Any intelligent person who watches the film will see this,

reply

Agreed. That dance scene alone was shocking.

reply

No. 3 minutes out of 90 isn't enough to judge a movie, are you stupid?

reply

The irony is that those conservatives are acting like the Muslims they hate so much, from the movie.

reply

1.9 rating. In your mind, I guess conservatives are the only ones rating it...

reply

Yes, it's called review bombing. It happens to every progressive movie /tv. Nothing surprising.

reply

Or maybe people other than conservatives, also don't like it.

reply

Positive reviews = 1.9/10 on IMDB. πŸ˜‚

"Award winning"

Dude, Polanski got an Oscar after he drugged and raped a 13-year old girl. So what if Cuties won an award.

I watched about twenty minutes and got so uncomfortable thinking about how some sicko pedophiles would be salivating at it and grabbing lotion. If people want to watch it, go for it, but don't sit there and tell people they have to watch something to know it's bad. I've never seen a snuff video so why should I judge it?

reply

My goodness Allaby, I had no idea you were taking this kind of heat. Sorry, man.
Anywho , when a film gets this much controversy, just makes me want to see it all the more.

Have a nice day 😊

reply

It's even worse on Facebook. I posted my review of the film in a few movie groups and I got hundreds of responses, many of which called me a lot of nasty names.

reply

You poor thing! I havent been on Facebook in a while, I have to take breaks from that as well as moviechat.

Funny, the hate this is getting. Meanwhile, the woman bashing threads are doing just fine - no objections there.....and it makes me wonder.

reply

The movie is great. Americans are nuts.

The film is basically about a family crisis because Amy's father is taking a second wife. Her mother's fate is to accept it. Amy goes into a tailspin especially since it's happening at a time when she's trying to understand what her role is. Really intense film. My only criticism is I wish it were in the original French. I hate dubbing. Very well-written, directed and acted. A solid 9/10.

"when a film gets this much controversy, just makes me want to see it all the more."

I do the same.

It's a very good film. The French shrug and think we're nuts.

reply

Actually you can judge a movie without seeing it. We do this every time we watch a trailer, read reviews, or a synopsis before watching the movie.

In lieu of this I will not be watching this movie. I'm not interested in watching 12 year olds twerk. Its gross.

NOPE...YOU MAKE AN ASSUMPTION...YOU ARENT JUDGING SHIT...IF YOU ARE YOURE AN IDIOT.

reply

Lol. Sure thing kowalski. I guess that's why you watch every film ever made. No matter if its porn, animal torture, rape, exploitation of vulnerable people, or filth. You'd never made a judgment without seeing it. FFs your absurd. Perhaps your daughter may grow up to be smarter than you and the caps lock key.

reply

THATS ELIMINATING CHOICES BASED ON PEWRSONAL PREFERENCE...JUDGING THE MOVIE REQUIRES VIEWING IT.πŸ™‚

reply

Except that you can judge it. If you come across a movie called muttfuc#ers with a picture of a tranny mounting a dog, I can assure you that you can judge the movie by its promotional material.
This is basically ever asylum cover, grindhouse cover, etc..

So no, you don't need to view it. To judge it.

reply

YEAH...YOU DO...OTHERWISE ITS NOT CALLED JUDGING,AS JUDGING REQUIRES ALL THE FACTS AND EVIDENCE..ITS CALLED ASSUMPTION.

reply

No it's a judgement call. You don't need all the evidence to see that s movie is crap. Jury members and judges don't actually need to see the murder happen to judge the case. Hey look at evidence outside of the crime to make a judgment. Promos, posters, clips, and reviews are evidence enough. So yeah, it's a judgement.

reply

NO IT ISNT...BUT,IT MUST BE NICE FOR YOU BEING SO SURE.πŸ™‚

I gave the movie a fair shot and I tuned off after 30 minutes or so. Then I fast forwarded to glimpse at the rest.

It's gross. The movie claims to denounce hyper sexualisation of young girls, but the camera ogles at the kid's butts and crotch constantly during shots and scenes that are far longer than necessary.

Little Miss Sunshine also criticized hyper sexualisation, but in a clever way by making a kid do a stripper routine at a beauty pageant while still mostly dressed up and without zooming on her body. It was a middle finger to the judges and parents of the other kids without sexualising Abigail Breslin.
