Are the writers

plain retarded?

Episode 4 was the worse of the series (so far) with atrocious writing and stupid plot holes. And that's an achievement in itself given the poor writing in the previous 3.

I wonder if they can do worse in the next 2 episodes ...

And of course will will have few apologists (feminists and leftists) that would defend even this failure up to the sky.

You subscribe to a service as woke as Disney, then have the nerve to criticize them? I refuse to give them any of my money

reply

I'm not subscribed. I have friends ...

reply

My friends don't subscribe to Disney +

reply

Ha, touche!!!!

reply

People with eye patches and parrots on their shoulder don't count as friends!

reply

Sadly they're part of the first dibs squad now. Before you actually had to have money to criticize things. If you can't beat'm join'em I say. Why I don't bother with shows that stream day 1 and theaters at the same time. I only support ones in theater first. Let them bleed.

reply

Disney doesn't hire writers, they only hire Democrat Party activists.

Here you are. Still watching! WTF?

reply

Fair question.

A bit curiosity. A bit masochism. Usually I like to finish the things I start (and it has only 6 short episodes).

Plus I'm watching it when I'm too bored with work.

reply

Why are you watching this show in the first place, asom?

I'm not watching this crap for two main reasons:

1. I'd rather be kept in the dark about what happened to our beloved OT/PT characters between those trilogies.
2. This is especially true of 1. now that I've heard all the bad stuff about this show, plot holes, etc.

reply

Hes a atar wars fan, unlike you

reply

You don't have to watch EVERYTHING made by a franchise, you know.

reply

You would if you were a fan

reply

I'm a Doctor Who fan and I haven't tried to watch the DW stuff in the 1960s, at least most of it.

I'm a Star Wars fan and I haven't ever watched either Clone Wars TV show or Rebels, not interested.

I'm a Star Trek fan but don't like the Abrams / Kurtzman stuff AT ALL.

No, even if I am a fan, I wouldn't watch it all. I'm eclectic in my tastes.

reply

It says something that I had to think a while before I could even remember what the “plot” of Episode 4 was or what happened. :^D But yeah, if it wasn’t for plot holes, it wouldn’t have had any plot at all.

reply

I have watched the 4 episodes released so far and I consider the series to be a completely failure... each episode worse than the previous one.

The premise is actually not bad, an Obi-Wan adventure between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope... filling the gap and explaining how he met Leia who trusted him at the beginning of A New Hope in R2's holo-message thing... excellent.

Execution of that premise... terrible.

The people producing this show don't really care about Star Wars, they produce a professional looking show, big budget, technically excellent... but story-wise and dialogue-wise it's just trash... listen George Lucas is not the best dialogue writer in Hollywood but he did know how to write for Obi-Wan, he always gave him insight-wisdom-Jedi dialogue... this Disney Obi-Wan is just "a guy".

reply

I don't know if some of you are just idiots or simply have trouble following basic plot points, but frankly speaking, some of these criticisms are unwarranted. Take this statement for example asserting that disney's Obi-wan is just "a guy" lacking "insight-wisdom-Jedi dialogue" despite the show constantly hammering the point that Obi-wan does not consider himself a Jedi anymore, and even moreso, has been trying to keep a low profile as a normie for the past 10 years. Not a stretch to believe that maybe he doesn't want to arouse suspicion with profoundly insightful comments commensurate to what a Jedi would make. This point was emphasized many times during the first episode so I would hardly call that an example of terrible dialogue. If you want to bash this amazing show, your all going to have to try a little harder than that.

reply

Frankly Star Wars hasn't been great since 1983. So why are any of your surprised. Personally i think its fine. Only problem is Reva is a Saturday Cartoon Villain. She too over the top to be believable.

reply

Reva sucks, hard! My jaw dropped midway through the 1st episode. Poorly written , dreadfully acted, silly appearance (the other 3 inquisitors looked cool, so why did Reva look so generic?).

reply

I agree and ask myself the same thing.

I do get upset because I was kinda excited about this, Ewan is definitely trying his best effort with the material he is being given to work with.

reply

I agree that anything after the original trilogy has been beneath it... the prequels were far from great, but at least Obi-Wan *sounded* like Obi-Wan.

Another example is that he is supposed to HATE blasters, but in the third episode of this limited series he is the most proficient shooter in the entire galaxy... terrible-inconsistent writing.

reply

I would bet a reasonable amount of money that the writers didn't even watch any of the prevoius films.

reply

... they produce a professional looking show, big budget, technically excellent...

I'm surprised by that.

Personally I thought some aspects look terrible - The Inquisitors look quite amateurish. The face make up looks really bad, I saw better cosplay at the last comic con I was at.

Same with the robot helping the rebel lady. Basically clearly a dude with a robot helmet on - all expense spared. In fact looks just like that robot guy off the Orville who I think may well have been designed to look cheap in order to lampoon 50s sci fi films / shows.

But worst of all I think is the cinematography. I couldn't say for sure but I think it's a result of the cgi set screen thing they use. The result is very focused camera angles, no wide lens stuff at all. So everything seems to be in narrow streets, corridors, etc. Even the Vader showdown - which was outside! - still seem confined due to the lack of width available.

The result is very much TV show looking production, no sense of grandeur.
