why not a film?

I know it was originally to be a film, then Solo happened.. But its not like it'd bomb as happened with Solo..

A (decent) Obi Wan movie with Ewan and plenty force/Jedi elements and light sabre action (& a Maul rematch) would probably be as big as Rogue One. youd at least had the familiarity of the original actor back (ok not Alec but the original in alot of peoples minds who are now grown up who loved the prequels as kids)

when the standalone 'SW Story' movies were announced I think there was abit of buzz about as fans and just audiences in general were hyped with the idea of an Obi Wan movie (not so much a Solo movie wout Ford).

I bet Ewan wouldve much preferred doing a movie over a TV show

Because this show as a movie in a theater would bomb like "Solo". On streaming, Disney can pretend this show is a big hit and nobody can prove otherwise.

goddamn! after seeing utube clips of the finale theres no way this wouldnt have DOMINATED the summer along with Top Gun. itd have done 1b for absolute certain maybe even 1.5b, rejuvinated SW on the big screen, and wed be hearing about an Obi Wan trilogy about now

You just knowed it from dem Youtube clips. LMAO! Watch the full mediocre episode.

a film wudve jestisond all the mediocre stuff for 2 and abit hours of non stop action like Rogue 1 and Revenge of the Sith

But that would make sense. Disney doesn't doesn't do anything that makes sense anymore in case you haven't noticed.

Yeah Solo really spooked them. But Solo was doomed to fail from the start, it’s just one of those ‘unnecessary’ spin-offs like they’ve done recently with Pixar’s Lightyear (which has also flopped)

But an Obi-Wan film with Ewan and Hayden in the age where nostalgia is making $$$$$$$ (look at Top Gun and Jurassic World 3, heck look at Rogue One that had Vader in it) would definitely have dominated at the box office no question.

A teaser trailer with Duel of the Fates and a quick glimpse of Vader and Obi-Wan preparing to duel and it would have made Rogue One money I’m sure of it.

Yeh one of the major draws of R1 (and why it broke 1b) was Vader (for first time property since 1983) and an ObiWan film would've taken R1 Vader to x 100.. (and having Ewans ObiWan face off against Vader in the suit for the first time) plus other major hooks of seeing Hayden again and potential big cameos from the Emperor and QuiGonn (finally). basically like a bridge or crossover movie between the Prequel and Original trilogies. A major event of a SW film

Could've been like SW and Jurassic being huge in same year again like 2015 (not so much 2018!)

Yea, Disney badly miscalculated the situation when they did the Solo movie. The real money in Star Wars land involves Darth Vader and any movie with him is going to make big bucks. This should have been a movie back in 2018 like you say and it would have dominated on the big screen

ObiWanKenobi was originally a film trilogy but plans changed after ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ became a box office disappointment.

If it had the same behind the scenes crew calling the shots I'm pretty sure it would have bombed.

A lot of Star Wars nerds were keen to demonstrate that they didn't ask for, didn't need and didn't want a Solo film. A lot of those nerds have stated, and continued to state it after seeing the show, that they didn't need Obi Wan Kenobi either.

It's not surprising then that Disney/Lucasfilm didn't feel like repeating Solo at the box office.

because the last few star wars movies underperformed at the box office. Episode 9 grossed less than half of what Episode 7 grossed, and Han Solo was a flatout bomb that lost the studio money. they had made people get sick of star wars movies, which is EXACTLY what i knew would happen when they announced the "one per year" schedule in 2014. terrible idea, and looked what happened. but the tv shows were doing well, so they decided to focus on what they knew worked.

they'll start making star wars movies again eventually.
