The gimmick wears of quickly. It's an inferior sequel.

It's slow and unfunny. And the Asian chick is just for China (although she acts fine).
Karen Gillan looks beautiful but everyone feels somehow underused.
Overall: quick cash grab and a real disappointment.

I just couldn't figure out what was missing in this version.
The first one was so much fun.
I was expecting the same with this one but it wasn't.

It wasn't slow, it was slooooooooooooooooooooow (lol) at least the beginning.
I had such a get to the point for the first half.

It could have been so much better.
It really could have and for that I agree with you, it was a real disappointment.

Saw this yesterday and yes would agree it seemed a bit a poor cash grab off the success of the last one.

It wasn't that bad, in fact an ok watch but it seemed pretty obvious the only "inspiration" was to switch the characters (which they gave up on anyway, way too late after more than playing out the old guys joke) and go with the same again. Just seemed to lack a bit of soul this time around - not sure the old dudes having their kiss and make-up worked for the younger crowd either, much more fun for them to imagine the younger kids as the game characters.

Anyway, the end was interesting. As I sat getting ever more bored at one point, I thought about a twist they should have brought to play this time - bring the game characters into our world. That'd be a fun premise, they'd all be out their comfort zones and need help from their counterpart kids in our world. They could go somewhere with that, so I hope they use it next time out...

Not a bad idea for part IV

The end credits hinted at a sequel that may involve the game coming to the neighborhood soon.

Btw, I agree with your assessment. While the movie was very watchable, it indeed lacked soul and substance. For me, none of the young people were very appealing, and neither were the old guys, for that matter. The non-adventure story was paper-thin and unfunny, and it took too long for the adventure to start, which is not the sort of criticism I would usually want to level. I like thoughtful film that take time to develop.
But it was better than Pokemon Detective Pikachu.

I love that idea!

A lot of reviewers are saying they liked this sequel, but they also said "I think that's about enough Jumanji. The gimmick was fun but stretched about as far as it'll go."

But your idea would make a part 3 a lot of fun to watch. Just the idea of introducing modern technology like cell phones, HDTVs, drones and the internet to the Rock, Jack Black, Kevin Hart and have them freak out would be hilarious.

This one was average but it was on pair with the 2017 one. I found the "game" storyline kinda boring. Hoping the 4th can bring in more excitement in the game portion.
