JRR Tolkien would approve of having more diversity in this series. He was pretty "woke" himself back in the day.

From JRR's own words:

"I must say that the enclosed letter from Rutten & Loening is a bit stiff. Do I suffer this impertinence because of the possession of a German name, or do their lunatic laws require a certificate of arisch origin from all persons of all countries? ... Personally I should be inclined to refuse to give any Bestätigung (although it happens that I can), and let a German translation go hang. In any case I should object strongly to any such declaration appearing in print. I do not regard the (probable) absence of all Jewish blood as necessarily honourable; and I have many Jewish friends, and should regret giving any colour to the notion that I subscribed to the wholly pernicious and unscientific race-doctrine."

― Letter 29 — Tolkien's German publishers had asked whether he was of Aryan origin

"I have the hatred of apartheid in my bones; and most of all I detest the segregation or separation of Language and Literature. I do not care which of them you think White."

― From a Valedictory Address to the University of Oxford in 1959

Take that, you anti-woke fanboys!

There's nothing woke in those letters. There's no white-guilt, no hate of white males, no hate of western culture.

Quite the opposite: Tolkien's work is a love letter to English mythology and culture.

And if wanted more "diversity", well, guess what? He would have added it himself. No need for some white woke saviors to rewrite his works decades later in his name.

Be against racism is not woke is just common human decency and common sense

Today wokeness and hyper sensibilities is something new please dont compare liberal people from the past how speak from common with todays nonsense

You can't be that ignorant.
It's not about actors. It's about the characters.
By all means, use black\yellow\red\green\purple actors. Just use make-up or CGI to make them look like they are supposed to.

Alternatively, it's a big Middle-Earth. You can always make a show about Easterlings of Haradrim. You can literally invent those cultures since there is very little known about them. You can make them as diverse as you want, add gender equality etc. Just keep your ideologically zealous hands from the source material.

Being a linguist, JRR would have told you that the phrase “back in the day” is a ghetto corruption of the correct phrase, “back in THE OLD days.”

Thinking about it i dont recall a single Black actor in either of the trilogies ,. How the hell did he get away with that

Twitter still hadn't been invented back then.
