Will flop. Nobody wants a cheesy Donner rehash
Going to be funny when this flops
sharehey thats my schtick ,lol.
shareYou think Troma trash Gunn has respect for Donner?
shareNo, just you and a few others ...
shareThis is Superman and Pals. Nothing like Donner...
shareI think it'll do well on opening weekend out of curiosity, but we've seen how many SUPERMAN movies now and how's this movie going to be different than the others?? A Black Lois Lane??
shareShut the fuck up.
shareYou reek of Snyder fanboy
Yep that's exactly what I said about Gunn's film based on a comic book about a talking raccoon and a walking tree
No way that'll work
but Gunn's "Guardians" changed my mind with the very first trailer and STILL I found myself surprised in the years thereafter with how much I cared about a damn CGI raccoon
I was about to say the same thing about an anti-hero with a toilet bowl on his head, but held my tongue, yet was still surprised at how much I liked the Peacemaker series
So yeah, knowing nothing else about Gunn, I'd have said the same thing about this version of Superman
Now, instead, I'd be surprised if it DID flop
I think this stands a chance of being quite good. But... I think it will perform below expectations. Not 'flop' mind you, but I don't think this will hit a billion dollars unless word of mouth is through the roof.
Let's face it. The DC movie brand has been damaged since, weirdly right around when COVID happened. (Maybe an omen? :P) So for right now, I expect this to at the least break even like how Man of Steel did. I think they're trying to keep the budget smaller as it is.
'I think this stands a chance of being quite good. But... I think it will perform below expectations. Not 'flop' mind you, but I don't think this will hit a billion dollars unless word of mouth is through the roof.'
Ditto. I'll be really surprised if this make a billion.
Not every superhero movie needs to hit that mark or even do numbers like $700M or $800M to be a hit. The first Shazam made just $360M worldwide but that only cost a hundred million. Take the win and call it a day.

"Not every superhero movie needs to hit that mark"
True, but this is Superman. There are superhero movies, and then there are Superman, Batman and Spider-Man, intellectual properties that are on a whole 'nother level
The expectations follow ... producers want BIG BANK for a Superman movie, or they'll reboot AGAIN
I hear you but I'm just trying to be realistic, considering the state of DC right now. For me, if it broke even and made a little profit on top of receiving critical acclaim, there's something they would have to build upon for more movies.
shareI think Gunn and those over him need to accept that however good it is it probably won't be an absolute monster at the box office. I see it being a Batman Begins type situation, where the first one rights the ship, giving the second one the chance to hit really big.
shareYeah, there you go, that's actually a good example. with 'Batman Begins'
