henry cavil was dropped because hes balding

if you saw a recent photo of henry cavil you'l see his hairline receeded hard and hes close to NW3 (balding level scale, google it)

and that is the reason why he was recasted. because hollywood want super heros to look like models.

Oh come on. That's never been a barrier. William Shatner wore a hairpiece from day one on the set as Captain Kirk. Ditto Sean Connery and James Bond. The list of toupee-wearing actors is long and distinguished. John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, George Burns, Burt Reynolds, Frank Sinatra, John Travolta, Matthew McConaughey, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Chuck Norris, Charlie Sheen, Kevin Costner, Jude Law.

And these are just the one I can think of off the top of my head. Hollywood has been using balding actors, even for action roles, practically since the beginning of motion pictures. If they had wanted to keep Cavill, his hairline wouldn't be an issue. They'd just put a rug on him, like they have countless other stars before him.

I caught Shatner in an old episode of The Six Million Dollar Man the other day. I don't know who he upset, but at times his hairpiece looked dreadful! 😂

reply

Yeah, I saw stills from the same episode. I think that explains why Shatner went from having straight, fine-textured blond hair on Star Trek the series, to curly, dark brown hair by the time the movies were made in the eighties -- as his hairline receded further, it was harder to make the rug look natural, so he changed both hairstyle and hair color to something that was more forgiving.

Don't think Brad Pitt needs a wig lol ,McConaughy had a hair transplant (a really good one) , Jude law sometimes wears one but often he's just got his Norwood 3 hairline on show ,

Yeah had Cavil continued maybe they'd have him in a Superman style wig (like Reeve had for some of the films , III & IV anyway, think he had his own hair dyed jet black for I and II . In his book he said he sometimes suffered from alopecia areta where it would fall out on places and then regrow, so maybe he had that during III & IV or maybe he didn't want to dye/damage his hair again, who knows)

Then again Cavil's hair is very thick and he's probably using finasteride/minoxidil and has probably had (or will have) a minor hair transplant to strengthen the hairline, so maybe he wouldn't have needed one .. Superman in the comics often has the same slightly receded hairline anyway

I've seen at least one photo of Pitt where he had Richard Nixon's hairline. Grant you, that's only one, so it could be photoshopped -- we'll give him benefit of doubt. As for McConaughey... I'm very skeptical. The results from hair transplants usually aren't anywhere near that good, especially as they can only harvest so many follicles from the back of your head, and of the ones they take, not all survive the transplant. On top of that, the original hair follicles on your scalp that were affected by male pattern baldness are still affected, and still continue dying. The result, after a few years, is very thin hair again, as only the transplanted follicles survive, and again, there's aren't really enough of them. It's easy to claim you have gotten a transplant, and lots of bald men who start wearing rugs do. The worst case of this I've seen is author Dean Koontz.

Yeah, there is no way that thing on his head is a hair transplant.

So yeah, I'm skeptical that McConaughey's hair is his own as well; I suspect he just has a better hairpiece.

Nonsense. Balding can be fixed with wigs, hair growth treatments, plugs, or even CGI. It's never been an obstacle to actors.
