Was the rape scene really needed?
Didn't add anything to the film.
shareOh wow I didn't know there was one originally. Just saw it ondemand and was glad the scene cut before we saw anything.
shareIt's not a very brutal rape scene but I suppose it did actually add something to the story because we don't know exactly what happened until the end. But I do think Hollywood is a little weird/obsessed with rape scenes though. Seen too many of'em in movies.
shareIt did. It added to the tone and tension of the film.
shareThe rape is the only indication of foul play.
Remember what the medical examiner said. He couldn’t rule her death a homicide because she died of the weather conditions.
But the rape forced her to run into the cold, which ultimately led to her death.
That’s what made her death a murder.
Never understood why she ran into the woods and not towards the road.
shareDid you see what happened. They guys were drunk and beat her bf to death who was trying to defend her. They gang raped her and were probably going to kill her. You can’t miss this. It’s about 15 minutes from when she and her bf were in the trailer in bed talking about how much they loved each other and then the guys drunk barged in. The rape and killing were extremely violent. I don’t understand these comments. Did anybody watch the movie. Maybe it’s not as brutal and horrifying as Irreversible, but it is very difficult to watch.
shareThe only people who would probably have seen her in the road were the guys who just raped her and murdered her boyfriend coming to kill the witness

They add lots of things, but only negative and destructive ones.
shareIt clarifies that there was never actually a gang rape. We see that the room mate who instigated everything is the only one raping her and we hear a voice from the background saying, "I'm next bitch", but it's interrupted by the boyfriend coming to, that's where the beat down occurs and he tells her to run. The room mate even admits at the end," yes, I raped her" and "yes, WE beat him dead!"
