Tedesco was speaking to Fiennes character (Lawrence) in the dining hall. Tedesco says to Lawrence to look around the room and see the seated cardinals divided by language. Tedesco is a reactionary who wants the pope to remain Roman and even bring back Latin. He points to the table of African cardinals and ask Fiennes - is that who you want? Even though Lawrence is not Italian; he is white. The deceased Pope, Tucci, Fiennes want to see the church go in another direction and not Tedesco’s vision or lack of a vision. Great actor btw. Sergio Castellitto as Tedesco. Just one of the best movies. I will see this one again. Tedesco represents his own belief and it’s probably shared by many. He doesn’t do anything wrong. He just thinks in a box. Tremblay is the guy who does something wrong. Bullit in no. 1. Always. Even Gene Hackman thought so. His French Connection is 2nd, which was Friedkin’s. But also Friedkin’s - Live and Die in LA deserves mentioning. But her/his entire response is inaccurate. Joe Spinell (she misspelled it) is not the murderer of anybody in the movie. The book is fantastic but the film is a masterpiece. Made in 1973 and it’s set in 1962 de Gaulle’s France. On many best film of all time lists. So unless you are interested in older movies and the OAS trying to murder de Gaulle by using an assassin, then I don’t know. You get to see Italy and France and London and Geneva. The detective work is done in a way you can’t imagine and it is brilliant for that time period. The one I’d avoid is the ‘90s remake. This series is really good. Redmayne is as good as Edward Fox. You will like it. That link is restricted for me. They said Guy Pearce was excellent in The Brutalist. I haven’t seen it. The only one who was true blue was Elizabeth. Philip was discreet and supportive of the Queen, but they called him a ladies’ man. Charles was madly in love with Camilla. She however didn’t feel the same way and was madly in love with Andrew who had a fling with Charles’ sister, Anne. Speaking of sisters, could Princess Margaret have caused more scandal? Turns out Diana was really in love with Charles. And she’s the one that you say betrayed everybody. It ended up being an excellent show. Exciting. Ending was good. Redmayne was terrific. Looking forward to S2. Is Ralph Fiennes no. 1? From Russia With Love is not my favorite; it seems to be with others. I didn’t like the actress. For me. Casino Royale and Dr. No. Un Certain Regard for Skyfall for it being an excellent non-Ian Fleming. I liked Ola Rapace a lot. I hated Spectre and Quatum Solace. I was not a fan of Madeleine. They had zero chemistry. Bond actors Moore and Pierce had at least one good one (Spy Who Loved Me) (Golden Eye) or two. You have one listed it. I thought the best thing of Thunderball was Domino and the underwater. I tried but I couldn’t get into Her Majesty’s Secret Service but I liked the book. Goldfinger had the best song, villain, and best girl for Sean - Shirley Eaton. Tommy only loved Grace. There were no others. The most interesting, of course, was May but that ended because of Grace. He would never abandon or not celebrate Grace’s and their child, Charlie. who seemed to disappear. The writers probably should have made their child a girl. It seems most stories with the alpha male and his child are always about the daughter. I can only think the people behind the show might have liked the actress who plays Lizzie and thought we’ll rework it so she become the central female even though it was so implausible. Or they were just out of ideas of who and what to do with Tommy’s love life. There was absolutely no chemistry with Tommy and Lizzie. They looked so funny together. At one point early on, Stephen Knight, the creator and writer of the series, said he wanted to take the series into the future and that Tommy would go legit in politics. Then there seem to be a huge lapse of time between each season. They were having a lot of trouble. One season seemed like it took two years. I think Cillian wanted out. John was mad and got out. Knight had other films to write. And then of course the untimely passing of Helen McCrory - Polly. So they just blew everything up. Literally. That was definitely not supposed to happen with the story-boarding of the series in its early stages. I also don’t think they realized the significance of Annabelle Wallis’ performance and that everything after that seemed lackluster. Just another great series like Dexter gone to dust.
