Christians are not being discriminated against

No one hates Christians for being Christians. Christianity is held to the same standard of all other faiths. (in some ways it it held to a slightly higher standard such as with Street Preachers being aloud to blare megaphones at events or in front of other places of warship) The trouble comes when Christians come get up in your face telling you your faith is wrong & you're going to be cast into hell unless you follow their god. It doesn't help the cause it pushes people farther away because you are making your god look hateful. Plus you are getting on peoples nerves. Plus With Christians out there telling people the law should say this or that because their book does is also wrong. Christians are free to follow the faith they feel int heir heart is right & should let others do the same. Being told to leave someone alone & be quiet is not discrimination. Not using the Bible to make laws isn't discrimination. Holding Christianity to the same standards as all other faiths isn't discrimination. While I'm a Pagan, My sister & most of my friends are Christians & my Parents are former Lutherans. None of them feel discriminated against.

Blowinwill--and all posters: Stay for the closing credits and note the listing of cases of discrimination against Christians given there.

People use to privilege call equality discrimination. Being held to the same standards as the rest of the faiths & people in this country is not Discrimination. Maybe Christians need to quit with the victim card just because they don't get their way. Y'all are making my sister & Friends faith look bad. They are openly Christian & have never felt discriminated against in their life. The Christians who do brought it on themselves with their "We are better than you" Attitude.

I wouldn't say Christians are being discriminated against, but rather that there is a stigma to being Christian in a lot of modern-day US. My honest opinion.

No OP, it's often not even closely held to the standard of other faiths and many are despised for their religion. Not just Christians, though.

reply

I agree. Christians are actually the majority.

Yes, lots of people hate Christians for being Christian. No one likes to have their sins exposed and be called upon to stop. The reason Christians tell you about their God and how to get to Heaven, is because they truly love you and don't want you to miss out on eternal life. It would be like a mechanic not telling a customer his brake lines are broken and letting him drive away. If I know how to save you forever, I would truly be amiss to not tell you the way. You are free to do as you please, but know the consequences. No Christians have threatened others' lives if they do not follow. It is a free choice and costs you nothing to listen, or to walk away. It is not a coincidence that our laws are the same as the Commandments. It's the proper way to live in harmony.

You cannot possibly believe that Christians across the world are not being persecuted against. Thousands upon thousands have died at the hands of ISIS over the past several years (as well as throughout the history of Islam). In the USA, bakers, of all people, have been fined and forced out of business for refusing to take part in a same-sex union celebration. The First Amendment, which says the Government may not establish a religion and force us all to follow it, also says that the Government may not interfere with our freedom to follow our religion. These massive fines to force non-compliers out of business is therefore, quite obviously, unconstitutional. This is persecution based on faith, religion, creed. It is growing quickly in this country. Pharmacists have been forced to provide pills to kill unborn children. Doctors and nurses have been forced to assist in surgical abortions. It is everywhere. Because your family has yet to feel it, does not mean it isn't happening. I'm sure you've heard these stories.

You desperately need a lesson in history. It is only in the last few centuries that non-believers have been free from persecution from Christian backed governments. The amount of time atheists didn't live in fear of being jailed, killed, or exiled by Christians is shorter than the amount of time we had to genuinely worry about such things.

And to this day, atheists do indeed get threatened and occasionally killed by self proclaimed Christians.

In the USA, bakers, of all people, have been fined and forced out of business for refusing to take part in a same-sex union celebration.

They have been fined and forced out of business for illegal discrimination and hateful bigotry. Get your facts straight.

These massive fines to force non-compliers out of business is therefore, quite obviously, unconstitutional.

You apparently know about as much about constitutional law as you do about history, which is to say: absolutely nothing. These laws are perfectly constitutional, which is why they keep surviving all the legal challenges made against them.

Doctors and nurses have been forced to assist in surgical abortions.

Prove it by citing a respected mainstream journalistic source. Isn't your religion against lying? Maybe you need to study your commandments a bit more closely.

reply

Your lack of knowledge and understanding of the ills carried out in the name of Christianity, whether it represents the 'true' face of the religion or not, is frightening. Not least because it makes you partially complicit as you fail to see the problems within your religion.

reply

I disagree. I've never encountered militant Christians pushing their views on others, but boy have I encountered many many militant atheists who are completely obnoxious. p.s. I'm a Thai Buddhist. Not biased at all.

reply

Well I've never encountered "militant" anybody. Where are you people finding all these "militant" types from?

reply

If militancy is about being a bit pushy with beliefs, then many sects of Christianity are militant by design.

"Major tech companies like Google and Apple have made it their business model to collect and store personal information about our lives, our social connections, our beliefs, and our habits. They have already colluded with the U.S. government to enable mass surveillance of their users. Now the Trump administration is planning to use data from tech companies to target and discriminate against an entire population of people."

"There is precedent for collusion between a tyrannical government and American tech. During the Holocaust, American multinational corporations collaborated with the Nazis to help them design and execute the systematic annihilation of the Jewish people."

I am very afraid what will happen in this country when Trump takes over the United States, as President. I am a Latin-American minority. This could be the beginning of the end. DailyKos.com has a lot more information on what Trump has in store, like amending the constitution of the "Freedom of Speech". It all comes down to "Discrimination" but not just against one group of people.
