Not all black people like this type of stuff.

I don't and never have. Tons of people I know don't. I'm not sure why the consensus is that we do, but I guess since it's marketed towards some people all white people just seem to think we are lining up to see this movie.

I can't stand Wayans and his brand of comedy and any thing putting more stereotyping on Black people that we all talk "supa ghetto" and have a lame sense of humor lol.

Anyways that's my .02. I'd love to hear if other people agree with me. Most black people I know like the same comedy movies everybody else likes. "Racial" comedy tends to only be funny to people stuck thinking they are living in 1865 and go to the "black lives matters" protests.

reply

Agree. Don't know why Marlon wayans gets money to keep doing this.

reply

He's paid to keep the racist stereotypes going, just like "White Chicks", it keeps racism alive and makes black people look stupid and trashy. In turn the public acts the same way cause they think its funny.

reply

How does that keep racism alive?

reply

Because it give the perception that black people behave as white people perceive them to be. And as long as white people believe that black people are ghetto trash then racism can stay alive.

reply

Also if you watch his interviews it's nothing but vulgar ignorance...

Not all of us white people think anyone is lining up to see this garbage. Just because its a wayans film doesnt mean its marketed specifically towards anyone specific. I watched all the scary movie films, each one progressively worst than the last so i stopped there.

The academy may be bigoted and biased but they dont represent the people, only themselves. Anyone can make a great film, regardless of race, and anyone can enjoy one. And some people churn out crap cinema. Case in point, this film for instance.

reply

Uh Why are you sitting around worrying about what white people supposedly think and why do you feel the need to get defensive about it? It's just a movie. Grow up.

Marlon Wayans has tons of fans black, white, Asian, and Latino. GTFO with that childish "what white people think" crap.

Do you think white people are afraid to make a move based on what you think?

reply

You are an idiot. My post is simply a response to the many posters on this very board that have made the comments, "Why do black people like..". So I made a counter thread saying we don't all like it. Sorry I don't sit up at night wondering what people think and your attempts at insulting me have gone completely to waste.

are you serious? this is a MESSAGEBOARD, people exchange their opinions on movies. if you think that's silly and not worth it, what are you doing here?

reply

I'm not sure why black people like it. I'm white, but it seems to actually be rather insulting.

reply

No, not all black people like it. But ALOT of them do. Enough to make his films top at the box office for the first week or two just like ride along. Ya sure as hell dont have white people lining up for this junk its cram packed in the unionsquare theaters and ones up in the bronx with all blacks laughing there asses off.

reply

white people lined up for fifty shades of grey. nuff said

reply

nuff said.

um, no.

black people lined up to see that movie, too.

it grossed nearly $600 million worldwide.

that being said, i'm white and i've yet to see fifty shades of grey.

i won't be seeing fifty shades of black, either.

i think we'd do better to accept the fact that everyone's an individual and that stereotypes are often more convenient than they are accurate.

reply

Coming from a "white" human, i'm looking forward to watching them make fun of a piece of *beep* movie based on a piece of *beep* novel.

OP, I agree with you 100%. I don't watch movies based on the color of the people in them, but the content. I simply will not support or spend my money on a movie because it is made by black people. I grew tired of Marlon's movies a long time ago. They are rather redundant and boring.

reply

I feel you. Marlon is one of those people that just thinks he's the funniest person in the room and everyone laughs at his jokes so he doesn't feel bad.

reply

Meh, you know what they say about assuming - in this particular case, it's very true. As if all the white people liked Adam Sandler. In this case, I just think Wayans wanted to cash in on all the connotations of a color based surname - some might find the movie funny, some will just find it distasteful, regardless of race or skin color.

reply

Marlon just needs to hang it up. He and his brand of comedy are painfully unfunny, and I'm not sure why he believes otherwise.

I myself am black but I've never felt I was obligated to like or engage in certain things just because of my skin color/genetics (something no one has any control over.) Watching anything produced by Marlon Wayans is one of those.

Racial/ethnic societal expectations aside, I don't think ANYBODY should feel the need to watch this film other than to see how bad it is.

Reported. Hoping you get banned soon TBH.

In all seriousness, what did they say that you feel is worth reporting or being banned?

What's going on? What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here...
