Why Brie Larson though?
Why didn't they pick Katheryn Winnick? was it because of her age? I mean c'mon there's nothing even remotely intimidating about Brie Larson.

shareDisney probably chose Larson because of greater popularity.
shareProbably because she has an Oscar award. She’s a great actress, good looking and a feminist as well.
shareWith a name like “Brie”, rich Hollywood liberals can safely assume she is one of them.
shareWell, she most certainly is. And thank goodness for that! After all, if you get tons of hate from the miserable right-wing online like Brie does, then you must be doing something.
But yes, it’s great that she isn’t one of these hate-filled, hypocritical, irrelevant, and demented conservative celebrities who tend to spend their lives whining about the majority of Hollywood who want to move as far away from the 50’s as possible (just like your average, every day cons).
Suitable name you have, by the way.
Spoken like a true SJW troll. Did you parents send you to Commie Camp too?
shareNever heard of her until she was cast and then I saw her in Kong: Skull Island.
I'd call her a serviceable actress, at best. I'm sure the casting directors knew what they were doing. They've done a bang-up job casting most of the other MCU characters. Don't see what her being a feminist has to do with a comic book movie.
Supposedly I think they are going to make Captain Marvel a feminist which fits Brie Larson.
shareI don't care about her personal politics, as long as she doesn't let that seep into her character. It's funny how certain people act like men are threatened by strong female characters. I don't where they get that from, because every red-blooded, comic book guy I know LOVES Black Widow. She's one of the best female movie superheros ever and she doesn't have to go on some man-bash taunt streak to be seen as tough. It would be refreshing if self-ascribed "feminists" would realize that man-bashing doesn't make a female character look tough, only petty and angry.
shareI don’t about her personal life either. If the movie looks good then I’ll see it.
shareThey want to believe they are threatening to men, that's how they gauge power and success, in terms of maleness. I guess they feel the need to emulate stereotypical masculine behavior to be "equal."
shareFrankly i would have prefer a Black Widow movie. I don't find anything that remarkable about Brie Larson acting. She seems to be a charisma black hole. i don't think ive seen a picture of her where she actually smiles. As for her being a feminist. Who gives a shit. They should gotten Emma Stone for the part.
shareShe was seen as the best candidate for the role of Captain Marvel. Simple as that.
Aside from being a wonderfully gifted actress, she’s basically a great person to represent this strong character. Moreover, the powers her characters possesses will ultimately make her appear as intimidating as she needs to be (as is the case with numerous actors who have played superheroes).
But I should mention that Brie has fully prepared for the role. From building muscle to doing the usual character research, she has undoubtedly committed herself to the part. For my money, she looks perfect in all the set pics.
Eh, Brie Larson is just unappealing regardless of her personal ideology. I feel that her pic has more to do with how she'll be perceived by other women not necessarily because of her Oscar win, and definitely not because of her popularity.
shareBasically you're saying she's not threatening to female viewers??
shareObviously, A white chick. We only claim that times are changing but I see no difference whatsoever. I mean they could have casted a black, or an asian because there literally are no asian superheros but the racism is embedded in them so deep that they don't even see it.
The system is designed in a way to benefit only whites, yet nobody is opposing it.
Are you suggesting Blacks and Asians can't be successful on their own merit and it is the responsibility of "whites" to promote them?
shareThere are Asian superheroes.

Marvel has several Asian heroes in print, some already in TV, Netflix and have introduced and used not just locations but characters quit liberally within the MCU.

On top of her acting credentials, there's a nice and even mixture of beauty and charm in her appearance. I find that too much of one can often diminish the other.
shareCharlize Theron should have been Cpt Marvel.
