Unnecessary sex scenes ruin family viewing

I can't watch such a movie with my children because I feel uncomfortable. The story was dfine, the camera was great, the director was killing it, my boys could really enjoy this flick.

Spoilers ahead, read at your peril.

This movie is about lesbian love and con artists. Sex scenes are totally unnecessary.

If I want to watch porn, there are zillions of sites for it or I could download an XXX-rated torrent within minutes. So why push this annoying soft-porn into our nostrils in an otherwise decent movie? I don't get it. It ruins family viewing.

reply

you must be really retarded to think a Park movie is to be share with children,
move alone troll

Honey, people believe what they are told

reply

It's along, not alone and it's shared, not share, you ignorant moron. Now go play with simpletons of your pathetic educational level.

reply

trata de hablar 3 idiomas imbecil, jajajajajaja

reply

I believe you should take your boys and LET THEM WATCH. LET THEM WATCH WHAT IS BEING CONSECRATED THERE.

reply

I kind of doubt anyone who isn't already old enough to put the sex scenes into context would enjoy the works of Chan-Wook Park, at least not this one. I grew up watching Hitchcock, lots of old classics, some more easily digestible art-house films....but this would have just confused me in my per-pubescent years.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law!

reply

You don't even see any body parts in the movie ...besides in jars at the end 😓 Just boobies, movement and suggestion.

And it was very needed..

reply

I agree with you that its not necessary, although the mild irony of your profile name is striking. The continuing mainstreaming of porn.. (and it is porn in this movie, because the explicit details of the sex only serve a purpose to titillate) is weird given that its so readily available online.

reply

Porn should of course be readily available online. Period. It's part of the liberties of the individual. And nothing is more sacred than the liberties of the individual.

But this flick is more about an intelligent crime than a lesbian love affair. Even so, the intimacy of the dykes could be portrayed without women eating each other's pussies. It is doable.

I think that is your real problem with the movie.

reply

What problem? Care to elaborate?

reply

That the movie went over your head?

You keep whining that it 'could' have been made without this and that sex scene, like you're saying anything meaningful. Taxi Driver 'could' have been made without the climactic massacre; Dumb & Dumber 'could' have been made without the toilet jokes; Basic Instinct 'could' have been made without the extended sex scenes... Has the penny dropped yet?

Just because I stumble down the road like a drunk, that doesn't mean it's the wrong one.

reply

Does every movie about lesbians contain raunchy sex scenes? NO! ⬅ There goes your argument out of the window.

reply

That isn't even close to my argument. But then, you already know that.

reply

Yeah yeah.

reply

Umm this is not a film for kids. Adults only please.

reply

I also found the sex scenes too much. They could have cut it shorter. We get the point.

reply

It's again one of those things I will never understand.
Can't show this up to my kids because it has sex. Doesn't matter me about the violence, couldn't care less if they are watching hero movies with tons of violence, etc. That's ok. Violence is ok. Sex is a thing of the devil that our kids should be protected of ever hearing or seeing about it. It's an act that carries in itself all that is bad in humanity.
Will never understand that mindset.

If you think it could've been made without those scenes, ok, your opinion. I totally disagree with you since sex was a major part of the movie theme.
And the director also thought of it as a natural part of this work.
He could've made the changes and surely he was asked to do this multiple times since there are producers and all that are always trying to make their investment goes to movies where there will be a larger audience. But for reasons he certainly thought the movie wouldn't be worth doing in any other way. That's an artistic choice. Just like Michelangelo chose to sculp his david naked instead of putting a blanket there. The church most surely covered many penises in the cistine chapel during the centuries just because nudity and sex for some reason is purely an evil thing. But Michelangelo's art was not that.

reply

Who says anything about "evil"?? The kids all over the world are watching porn on their smartphones anyway and I couldn't give a flying f^ck about it. Heck they were watching every sh!t adults did when we humans were roaming the African pastures a few tens of thousand years ago. Were the kids disturbed mentally because they saw two adults copulating? No.

You apparently didn't understand what I'm talking about.

My problem is that it makes me uncomfortable to watch soft-porn when MY kids are sitting next to ME. That's all.

On the other hand, watching images of "blowing brains, guts coming out of peoples bodies, maggots sprouting out of a person's skin" with my kids are fine, they don't bother me. I dunno why, but they just don't.

reply

Sounds to me like you're just salty about parental life. Sometimes, you just gotta wait until the kids are asleep...

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law!

reply

Nah, the kids won't enter the living room if I tell them not to. I just wanted them too, to enjoy the criminal plot aspect of the story. It was a good one.

reply

Depictions of sex and violence are too entirely different things, and bad for different reasons. When people see sexual images a chemical reaction takes place in the brain producing dopamine, arousing the mind and causing pleasure. This can be addictive as the brain loves to seek out what gives pleasure, hence why porn can become an addition. You don't want to expose kids to that, especially when they are at an age when they are still developing sexually.

Violence isn't ok, but thankfully it does not produce the same effect, and if does, no way near to the level as sexual images, hence why sex in film and tv is regulated so much.
