James Denton is HORRIBLE!

He is still Mike from Desperate Housewives! Its nearly ruined the show. He has no acting skills whatsoever. He has brought the exact same character Mike from Desperate housewives to this show and its a complete fail!!! He acts the exact same looks exactly the same walks talks everything as Mike! Why did they bring this idiot into this show?? Its a complete misery to watch this guy be Mike! I was really hoping he'd die off in the last season but No here he is again this year too! UGH!!! This sucks so bad!

I'm a big Pretender fan so when I see James I think of Mr. Lyle too. He was really bad (as in evil) on that show. I've got to get use to him being the good kind doctor. ;)

Thank you for the reminder. The Pretender was one of my favorite shows, and I had completely forgotten that James Denton was a great part of it. I don't get the OP's rant at all.

Actually I like his character...a little bland but likable. I like the build of the relationship better than the movies. Besides, there are other interests which will make her choice of the next husband much more believable (I'd like Sam to be her choice). In the movies, the cop was the only one interested in her and she married him.

Honestly, I never saw Desperate Housewives, but after watching last night's show, I think he needs to be replaced. Or take the job as Head of Staff at the hospital and only appear once in a while. This role is not suited for him. He does more eye rolling than my emoticons. That's not acting. He must be uncomfortable with the character. Possibly the writing is boring, but all the other characters are very entertaining. Even Cassie sometimes gets boring, but maybe that's only when she's playing opposite him. There is absolutely no chemistry between them. He doesn't appear to be in love. There definitely is something between her and the archaeologist. That character looks at her like he's loved her for years, even if he is a "playah".

i don't like him either... he and cassie have absolutely no chemistry... he reminds me of the 40's and 50's in hollyweird when 60 year old guys were pushed as sex symbols opposite beautiful young women... think randolph scott... add to that his character is unlikable... almost as unlikable as his obnoxious son. (he needs a foot in his azz)... but denton's character is arrogant in his always being right... as many doctors are... he's just not a character that one can get emotionally invested in... jmo btw... catherine bell is absolutely gorgeous...

While I have nothing against Sam (James Denton), and while I do like him on the show, I do agree with you that there's some serious chemistry with John and Cassie. He does appear to be in love, but what's with these men that keep staring longingly yet not saying how they feel? Ryan was the only one who came outright and said what he felt; and he got dumped. Ryan would have been my first choice, and if John wasn't such a "player" or traveller, he would have been my next choice. But I also like Sam. So glad I'm not in Cassie's picking position. lol

I just started watching the show and he's okay. But then again, I never heard of him so it makes no never mind to me. I think only the people who knows him from Desperate Housewives and didn't like his character would be annoyed that new character is a clone of Mike.

The mayor is wayyyyyyy more annoying

The whole show is horrible. Boring as reading a dictionary for hours, the actors all seem out of place, and every guy falls for Cassie?? Seriously??!! She's ok but no way is she not practicing magic to have all these men fall for her, lol. What a joke of a show.

BigHead, this show is not for everybody. It's a lovely show and I binge watched it from since yesterday and hardly got any sleep last night; woke up at 3am and finished watching until now at 6am). I love all the characters even though some can be annoying. Well actually I don't love all of them; I don't love Abigail. But I love the show and maybe this just isn't "your cup of tea"; no pun intended.
