So I am going to make it very simple... As I have read/watched Batman for over 20 years
Joker doesn't show up until AFTER Bruce Wayne goes to Tibet and AFTER he becomes the Dark Knight
Jerome is 10yrs too early!! The writers and producers said over and over again that he wasn't Joker and they killed him off. But no crazy fans can't handle rejection so they stalk every form of media with their demands.
So now we have a "forced" fake character masking around as "Joker" and forcing the timeline.
Bruce Wayne is hardly a teenager and people are forcing him to be something he's not ready for!!
Ohh and yess we get a "3 month" interruption as punishment from the horrible show 24! So that means the veiwing for Gotham will suffer very bad and when it returns we will get only 2 months before the summer. Btw this means Gotham will be cancelled very soon.
We should of had 10 seasons aka 10 years of the show but now we will be lucky if we get 4 or 5 seasons.
All of you Jerome idiots ruined Gotham, Congratulations!!
Yeah, and Riddler worked for the GCPD, Barbara killed her parents and went psycho, Penguin is a skinny gay man, a made-up character killed Maroni, Firefly is a woman, a random guy named Theo Galavan became Azreal and was the equivalent of an adult toddler, another made-up character with a fake hand led the Red Hood gang, Hugo Strange is Asian, Poison Ivy has the wrong name and became a woman overnight, and James Gordon kills people...
But go ahead, complain about a person who hasn't even been called "The Joker" yet, showing up too early for your tastes, as if he's supposed to actually not exist at this point in Bruce's life or something, and as if this ain't supposed to be an ORIGIN show...
Thank you for the concise summary of the "changes" Gotham has made. People need to realize that it's creating its own canon, in the same way that many comic book authors have rewritten their characters' canon in the past.
Personally, I'm really enjoying this interpretation, because it can still surprise us! If there was a way to "sticky" your response, I'd put it on the front page of the boards and make everyone read it before they post. XD
One of my favorite lines from Gordon was in the first half of this season when Barnes asks him if is something along the lines of a bounty hunter or vigilante, I don't remember which to which Gordon responds. "I am whatever pays the bills." It was the delivery and the look on his face. He has been screwed over by the dept so many times I think they deserved it.
Regarding Jerome, I saw a longer preview for this coming monday's episode where Bruce is punching Jerome, I think. I really hope they don't kill off Jerome again. Perhaps just have him disappear for a while. Because let's face it, he was killed off originally to advance a plot device as was Fish Mooney. Fish Mooney was brought back but then left again and probably isn't returning. I don't know. I don't think she needs to return. And if she does it will be because of Penguin.
What worries me is the creators said the three episodes in January is an arc that is closed off. So that is why I fear them killing off Jerome.
All sorts of Red Hoods have operated years before Batman came to be and this is an Elseworlds anyway. Who cares? Gotham also got renewed for S04 and i read at least 2500 Bat-rated comic issue. One thing i can confirm is that the writers certainly read a few too.
Edit: Hups. It´s still not officially renewed but tv by the numers gave a very positive outlook if the show coming back and this is one of the most stable Fox shows, with international appeal.
People can harp on the TC claiming this is just another interpretation but the fact is he is right about the show runners caving to the fans. This show was initially suppose to be about, and focused, on Jim Gordon and the fall from grace of Gotham, with very, very little to do with BW. But after fans caught wind of this this they threw a hissy fit demanding you couldn't have a show focused on Gotham and NOT have it deal with Bruce Wayne/Batman, and the show runners caved to them and this mess is the result of the pandering.
I interpet Jerome as being everything the Joker WILL become. Also, you cannot tell me that this Actor is hauntingly similar to Heath Ledger's portrayl of the Joker
Stop being so negative. Do you want every Batman story to be the same? I'm a huge fan of the comics, the reason why i love Gotham so much, its because they are making their own origins, i have no idea whats going to happen next. Gotham is fantastic
I never understood comic book nerds and their anti-tv/movie stances in regards to the stories.
The comic books have pulled *beep* out of their big gaping *beep* so many times no one can keep it straight. But yet they act as if the comic books should have the ultimate say for when it comes to shows and movies? Pppft.
Comic book nerds and sci-fi geeks honestly just need to stfu. They're the reason everything gets rushed, cancelled or it ends up being flat out *beep*
If you're worried about the inability to keep in sync with what's considered canon in the world of Batman, this show is not for you. There is hardly ANYTHING that follows the stories or timelines we're used to. By that logic, almost none of the characters should be introduced by now.
As far as Jerome being "forced" on us, I say the same thing I have always said, he was always meant to come back. If you watch the Sea. 2 episode "The Last Laugh", that entire episode was an illusion, almost every scene a sleight of hand to the audience. What we thought we saw, we didn't really see. I had to re-watch it right after it aired and noticed that Jerome was definitely coming back, and he was definitely The Joker.
