Did anyone expect this to do so well in the Theatres?

I think Disney said they would be happy with 300k, it is at 520 and will probably end up in the 530-535 range beating out The Dark Knight in the US.

I admit we saw it twice and I really liked it for what it was, I just didn't expect it to be this big.

It wasn't part of the Jedi storyline at all, which was actually nice.

I absolutely expected it. It's Star Wars.

Obviously, ANY Star Wars movie is going to do excellent business so of course I expected it to do well.

And especially after I saw it twice in a row at its premiere and realized how INCREDIBLY AWESOME it truly is I knew it was going to DOMINATE even more than I expected.

But OMFG OVER A BILLION DOLLARS is still pretty damned exceptional for a mere SPIN-OFF movie.

JMFC I can't WAIT to see how much Ep. VIII absolutely KILLS IT at the box office once we finally get LUKE GODDAMNED SKYWALKER back in action and KICKING ASS for a whole movie!!!

OMG

Without Han Solo...

Well, I anticipated it.

Yes?

Once it turned out to be more or less what I was expecting, I wasn't surprised it did so well.

which just proves star wars DOESN'T have to be about jedi.

reply

Yes, it's Star Wars. Eight films in there has not been a bad Star Wars film yet. You underestimate the power of the Force.

reply

Not really. I expected it to reach at least one billion WW.

I have a very long ignore list

Rogue One should've come out before The Farce Awakens. If there's any movie that deserves $2 billion dollars globally it's Rogue One. I hope that Rogue One will do over $600 million domestic as it stands now but I don't know, practically no one is going to the movies right now, it's still in the top 10 though.
