Grand Moff Tarkin: His face was completely cringe worthy.
His face = LOL. It was totally fake and looked absolutely ridiculous. I couldn't even take any scene he was in seriously. Peter Cushing must be spinning in his grave right now. 😰

I think it was an unnecessary risk to use CGI. It looked awful to me.
Are you telling me they couldn't find an old British guy to portray him?
Nobody complained that the Emperor is different.

Glad someone here is honest and can talk sense.

You said it yourself pal, we're the guardians of the galaxy!
The expected reply of a blithering retard.
shareCan you think of something original to say for once in your life
You said it yourself pal, we're the guardians of the galaxy!
Kick your idiot mother in that retard-making puss of hers. Make it a hard kick. Rupture something. If she doesn't throw up blood then you're doing it wrong.
But you seem to do everything wrong.
The face was top notch.
It was the eye movement and especially when he talked that looked bad.
After Tron one would think the can do the lip movement better, but to me it looked the same.

I've seen so many people critique the CGI of Tarkin. Most of it has been just that they could tell it was CGI, and that meant it was obviously fake. I'm not saying the CGI was perfect; I could tell his face was computerised when I saw it, and no about of computer effects, in my opinion, will create the impression of genuine facial textures. However, is a magic trick any less clever if you know it is a trick?
See it this way, even if they didn't get the CGI perfect, and yes I'm still saying it is good and generally convincing (you've really been spoiled for CGI effects if you think Tarkin was done badly), the acting by Guy Henry was perfect. As I'm sure you know, they used a body double who did all the movements and speaking. Guy Henry (who plays Pius Thickness in HP7 part 1) studied Peter Cushing intensely and attempted to replicate his every movement and mannerism. The twitches of Tarkin's head, his rigid body language, his calm voice (which sounded so much like tarkin that I couldn't tell when they switched between Henry and archived Cushing recordings - which they did on occasion).
Look, it wasn't perfect CGI, but it certainly wasn't bad. Regardless of how fake it looked, Guy Henry played Tarkin incredibly closely to how Cushing did. These are actors acting role; if you're going to judge them, do it for their acting, because I think Guy Henry's acting in the film has been shoved under the carpet because of the CGI controversy, when really he did such a good job he deserves recognition for it.
Finally, Cushing's family gave the project their blessing. If anyone is to know if Cushing is spinning in his grave, I'd put my bets on his family; they'd probably know what's best for Cushing's legacy more than you. Bringing Cushing back from the grave temporarily brings a legendary actor to a fresh audience, and to be honest that is a good thing because more people these days need to see such classic actors as Cushing in action.
Ha ha, listen to this fanboy! He looked terrible so stop being butt hurt and defending this crap. Face the truth.
And his family should be ashamed of themselves. Any legacy he might have had is ruined now thanks to this movie.
I'm defending it because I'm not a spoiled brat over CGI. Lighten up a little; if you want reminding of what real bad special effects look like then rewatch Star Wars Episode 1, or the Mos Eisley sequence in the updated Episode 4 - Tarkin CGI-ed is centuries ahead in look than that crap. However, I'm enjoying that the only retort someone as clueless as you could manage was to accuse me of being a fanboy.
More importantly though, the use of Tarkin in Rogue One is actually vital for his legacy; it brings Peter Cushing as an actor to an entirely new generation. Going to the cinema with a group of family members, it was interesting to find one hadn't seen Star Wars, and so this was the first thing they'd seen "Peter Cushing" in; it is incredibly important introducing new people to a legendary actor like Cushing, because then he will be remembered for longer.
Peter Cushing was proud of his work on Star Wars, and expressed interest, were it not for his character's death, in doing more work on Lucas' films. His family were similarly proud of Peter's work on the film, and this is reflected in the work they made to bring him back. Bringing Peter back allowed new Star Wars fans to be introduced to the acting legend of Dracula.
The bringing of Tarkin to the screen really enhances Peter's legacy rather than ruining it, but please do continue to call me a "butt hurt fanboy" all you please. Immature pricks like you tend to just harm your points when you spew insults in the absence of an actual argument.
