Disappointing lack of female characters

The movie itself was okay, but I was especially disappointed that there were barely any women in the film, and they hardly got to interact with each other. Out of the entire Rebellion only a small handful of women are there? And it was also disappointing how Jyn was the only woman in her group and didn't get to recruit other women to be part of it. Nor did she get to have any female friends. It's funny to me how the makers of the film claim it to be a feminist film because of having a female lead and yet a lack of female characters never crossed their mind that they actually failed in that aspect. I and many other people were hoping that with a film like The Force Awakens, which was a HUGE step in the right direction, that they would continue to do so with these anthology films, but they utterly failed.

Now I'm sure some of you will complain about this post for any reason, but considering the fact that since the beginning of time, women have been seen as less than men and have continued to be underrepresented in film and tv and other forms of media time and time again, it's hard not to be disappointed and depressed.

Isn't the main character a woman? Isn't the whole movie about her?

And a stronger and more interesting female character than any we've yet seen in the Star Wars franchise.

Except for Leia, who's always been awesomely strong and interesting.

But who was never placed front and center, and made the protagonist.
