His win is well deserved

say what you will, but his performance drove this movie, and being attached to a company that helps support people diagnosed with ALS, he did it justice and I'm happy he won.

reply

Agreed. Couldn't help but smile when he won. I loved his performance- and Felicity's. I thought everything came together really well- acting, directing, editing, score, etc.- but what made the movie was the performances. I would've been happy with any of the nominees winning, to be honest (haven't seen American Sniper yet but I like Bradley Cooper), but I was really emotionally affected by Eddie. I was torn between him and Michael Keaton, who also did a fantastic job.

Absolutely yes.

reply

Me too! Very happy.

reply

absolutely well deserved! no movie can get me to start bawling my eyes out and not stop 20 minutes in, not even 'titanic'.

reply

I hear ya! I couldn't stop either!

reply

Well he is a white man!

reply

Agreed :)

reply

I just watched this movie (finally) and loved it.
I can now see why Eddie won the Oscar.
He was amazing.

No, that was a very undeserved Oscar win. Some of the most horrible overacting I've ever seen.

reply

right, because i'm sure you spend tons of times with ALS patients to know, like he did. watch this clip of stephen when he could talk, from 39:30 to 39:45 and tell me if you can understand what he was saying and if redmayne was 'overacting'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A0J3WHgUx0

reply

That still doesn't change my opinion. Everything about Redmayne's performance screams overacting. Period. The best performance that year (Jake Gyllenhaal in "Nightcrawler") wasn't even nominated....

reply

You're entitled to your wrong opinion.

Opinion has been noted and filed in the circular bin where it belongs.

I'll take the word of Stephen Hawking himself who said he sometimes felt like he was watching himself.

reply

agreed, knew most of the story from the Documentary: A Brief History of Time, but his performance was well worthy of the win.

I loved his performance. He took the time to study the effects and stages of the disease as well as spending time with people who suffer from it besides Stephen Hawkings.

The loose limb controls, his fingers crippling and of course the face contorting was brilliant.

reply

I agree with everyone here except for the negative person who is obviously a jake G fan.
Eddie deserved that oscar brilliant performance and not an easy one too great job.
