Who was the homeless guy?
So who was he? Why was he searching through police files? Was he linked to the murders?
shareSo who was he? Why was he searching through police files? Was he linked to the murders?
shareI think he was just a random mentally ill person. However when the officer is trying to put him in the holding cell, he puts up a lot of resistance which means he has been arrested and imprisoned before, and knew there would be demons in the holding cell.
shareI think it's the homeless guy from Hellraiser....
shareThere was no homeless guy. It was all in her mind ...
There were never any real persons besides her, except the officer (sergeant?) at the beginning and the ending of the shift who shot her, and the guys in the yellow suits which she didn't recognized and confused with members of the Paymon-Clan.
I assume she had a really hard psychosis most possible triggered by the anniversary of the events that killed her father. The real hell exists in our minds ...
Also none of the phone-calls were real, except maybe the calls from her mother, but i'm not sure of that ...

In her mind as a result of the passing of her father? Because we see at the end that she shot 3 people who were going to clean up the place. Then she thinks and actually seems to vaguely remember doing it. So did she just suffer a psychotic break?
shareYes, seems so, at least this was my explanation for it ...

I'm not convinced it was a psychotic break, though that is one explanation. I assumed the homeless guy was in holding at the time of the murders and was killed in the process, the prostitute, too. They didn't have bullet wounds, though, so.
shareThe whole "psychotic break" thing is such a cop-out. It's a police station haunted by the ghosts of the family who killed themselves a year ago that day. Why is that so hard to understand?
As a result, the protagonist sees things and experiences things. Regarding the homeless guy, I think he was real. You see the clips of the open doors to explain how he got in, and clearly he's looking for something in the station and is out of his mind, but why not?
I think the more important question is, why didn't she bring up the homeless guy once when she was on the phone with the new station? "Oh, hey, some guy broke in, I had to tase, handcuff, and lock him up." Nope. Didn't bring it up a single time.
shareI suppose she didn't bring it up on the phone for two reasons: (1) she thought the situation was under control, because she had the guy locked and knocked out; she didn't want to show anyone that she needed help (the same issue when she called the sergeant the first time), and (2) she already reported the breakout on the radio, although didn't get a response. Also, (3) she brought it up with Price.
