What's so great about this show

I've never watched Rick and Morty, so I'm not dissing the show or anything like that, I'm just curious as to why this show has such a high IMDB rating and is recommended by a lot of people.

As a fan of shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad and South Park, do you recommend I give Rick and Morty a chance? What age group is it aimed at(like is it a kids cartoon,an adult cartoon, somewhere in between)?

It's just very unique. Ironic saying that about the story lines because usually it's just a knockoff of a movie or show but with a great skin. Overall it's just very entertaining where political agendas aren't thrown in your face
