To me, Rick and Morty brings me a great deal of peace of mind because it capitalizes on the idea that you can set a fictional story in a fictive universe that's unlimited and free to explore. Most movies and shows that set their bar that high in their premise tend to squander it. Like that subpar mediocrity Lucy that stole futurologist concepts but didn't do its research into the potential, possibilities, and sheer imagination tied to the topic. So they turned it into the cheapest form of action entertainment, when it could be used in the way that Rick and Morty use it. I aspire to write some futurologist fiction sometime in the future myself and hopefully I'll do it justice. Rick and Morty certainly has, with not a single bad episode. Its worst episode, if it has one, will probably be a matter of taste among the fans, and most would probably agree that its worst episode is still pure genius when compared to other fiction.
What this show is to me, if I sum it up in one sentence, is pure uncensored creative genius.
It's also worth pointing out that it has a fresh style of its own, a delightful and delirious improvisational tone about it, it's so full of random and crazy stuff. And some things said is just so weirdly personal, at least to me. Like telling the random bit of trivia about Garfield and Ghostbusters and the relation between Bill Murray and Lorenzo Music. I've told others about that after finding out about that funny connection, and Rick and Morty randomly drops it. It is a nerdy show that a lot of us fans can get into easily.
