Very silly, teen-driven drama with terrible acting

I tried to watch this after hearing various people talk about it.

The show concept is fine. The show execution is horrendous.

There's a ton of bad acting. Really bad. We are immediately subject to teens acting like teens, all of them looking like they walked out of a mall (perfect hair, in full makeup, buckets of teen angst). No sign of malnutrition, prison scars, dirty clothes or anything you'd associate with someone who's been locked up.
Their dialogue is beyond cringe worthy. "You killed my father and I'll always hate you," was about the only comment on their flight down to Earth that conveyed any moment of intelligence. The rest of the time it was terrible one liners you might hear from kids riding on a school bus. And the way they all acted on the drop, you would have thought they were on a trip to summer camp. I secretly wanted to see all of them set upon and eaten by mutant monsters the moment they exited the ship, or die in a flaming crash. You don't have any bond with these characters. They're just a bunch of stupid brats. Oh and the special effects are shitty. The CGI looks cheaply done. The show comes across more like a USA original series from the late 90's or early 2000's than a show that was produced in the last 3 years.

A garbage show, poorly written, poorly acted and poorly executed.

I like it a lot. Teens acting like teens? Yeah? That's kinda normal. Most of the cast looks pretty grubby and worked over, most of the time. Yes, they still look attractive but it's not over the top. I have "bonded" with a LOT of the characters and I really appreciate the character arch swings and complexities. No one's "goodness or evil" is black and white. It's actually quite thought provoking.

You and I come from different worlds is all. I'm closer to my late 40's and I'm guessing you're in your 20's or possibly early 30's. I grew up with shows like the original Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. They had their moments of camp but they were also well acted shows.

For me, The 100 is garbage for the exact reasons I noted. If you like it, then you like it.

I stand by my comments.

Actually I'm 55 and I like movies of MANY different genres. Battlestar Galactica was okay. Kinda Starwars lite. Never watched Buck Rogers but I agree. One man's trash is another man's treasure and I would never suggest that you're right or wrong in your taste. Art is after all, highly subjective. To me there's a lot of things going on in this series and I really love the pacing, the twists and turns and surprises. To me, the acting is more than adequate. Some characters, better than others but over all, good. It's kept my interest through 4 1/2 seasons, so far.

Some of the sci-fi on the show is fun enough to justify watching it. Not like there's anything good on tv these days.

Not like there's anything good on tv these days.

Why do some people keep saying that? Do you live in some network TV prison?? There is SO MUCH good television these days that it's actually impossible to watch everything even if you did it as a full-time job!

Did you watch just the pilot? Because pilot and the rest of the series are like night and day in quality.

Your point about how they look like they came out of a mall is valid. But this is something a lot of films do. In the Riddick films, how did Vin Diesel manage to maintain his muscular physique on a barren island? How did the women in Resident Evil films look so attractive? Same for Walking Dead.

It's Hollywood, and they know mainstream viewers want attractiveness.
