This guy oozes gay and femininity. I don't know why he keeps getting masculine leading roles. He was horrible as elvis. Now he's suppose to be the bad ass in masters of the air. who's even buying this? He oozes gay no matter what he does.
dunno. i can't stand looking at him. he's got a creepy vibe. his mouth is way too big and he's always looking down with this aww shucks smile that makes me wanna punch him. he also looks like an actor pretending to be an actor playing the character on screen. like layers of fake. that said, i find him passable enough in this show so far.
Yeah he's one of the few that's more traditional leading man. Did you see him beside Chalamet in an interview? Butler looked masculine and Chalamet looked like a soy boy.
first of all, there was only ever one elvis movie. second, how can he be great when he's so effeminate? elvis was never like this and he was in tons of movies. we have a very good idea of his mannerisms. he was a masculine but pretty boy. he never came off gay.
Baz is what made me an Elvis fan. I've since watched every Elvis biopic and Baz's is the best with the most Easter eggs too. He researched this film for 10 years.
2nd, I've read over 35 Elvis books and sorry but people have accused Elvis of being gay or effeminate as early as the 50s due to:
-he wore makeup
-wore lace or sheer see through shirts
-wore pink a lot and had a pink bedroom
-had long hair and devoted a lot of time on it
-wiggled his hips, burlesque type, likened to a stripper (this is not my description but by people of his time, like his drummer)
-wore a lot of jewelry
-he wore open shirts or low necked shirts, he even tied it above his belly button like a mid drift
-didn't wear underwear hence why Sullivan's crew filmed him from the waist up on his 3rd appearance
- had a pink bedroom before he moved to Graceland (look at link below)
In fact he was bullied in school because of his outfit and long hair. This is how he met Red West, his friend and later bodyguard. Red defended Elvis 2x from bullying. Elvis' hs bullies tried to cut his long hair in the bathroom when Red came in threatening them.
Elvis was the blueprint and patient zero of a Rockstar. Not sure you're familiar with Rock n roll and the Rockstar aesthetic, but makeup, effeminate tops, long hair are all associated with them. Especially with classic rockers who all were just emulating Elvis, even axl rose, down to brandon flowers of The Killers. Elvis set the stage of who and what a Rockstar is, how they dress, look, how they act and present themselves, wild and sexual, masculine and effeminate in 1. But Elvis was very much masculine, sensitive yes but very masculine with an effeminate look.
I highly recommend you look into David Bowie or who Robert Plant are if you're unfamiliar with them or rockstars. Look at their aesthetic, effeminate is their look mixed with the masculine.
elvis was gay for 50s standards, however it's just flamboyance. we've moved on. butler is gay for 2020 standards. that's not how elvis came off at all. his mannerisms also never came off as gay. it's like how some of the rock stars in the 80s dressed in drag but never acted gay. meanwhile, someone like prince came off super gay even though they were both dressed the same. elvis needs to be portrayed how he actually was and not how some 50s men viewed him. i'm not a 50s man. butler is way too gay.
lol. can you even fucking read? it doesnt matter how long the reply is. my rebuttal was apt. how we view femininity have changed drastically since the 50s. a man who is simply metrosexual now is not considered gay. a man is only actually gay if he fucks other men, which there is no proof elvis ever did. so me sitting in 2024, i do not want to see a 2024's version of femininity, that looks too gay. portray elvis as he appeared back then, presuming that's how he appeared in his movies too since most actors cant change their minute mannerisms. elvis was not a professional actor, he couldnt pull off something like daniel day lewis, so we can presume he was himself in those movies. try actually presenting some rational arguments instead of crying.
Interesting you think the world is your own little backyard. And when you have no real arguments to present, you resort to profanity. You are the result of your world. Do not assume the rest of the world lives in your own narcissism.
I've seen every Elvis film and more, you underestimate him and speak out of ignorance.
first of all, i'm not trolling you fuck. but also you'll be happy to hear this. i just saw some elvis stuff again. apparently i last saw him as a teenager and really couldn't see him as well as i can see people now. yes, elvis was actually effeminate and butler portrayed it perfectly. honestly, i'm in utter disbelief here.
I guess I didn't really care how he looked, his performance was fine for a mini-series. Did seem quite young for who he portrayed but I know a number of people who look very young for their age.
