shareSpeak for yourself.
Many people like Jazz.
Jazz was great in its heyday. But, the most people in jazz can do now is performing the great tunes from the Hard Bop times. Which can be great for fans of the 1950's to 1960's like me. But, I personally haven't heard that much that's even really good unless I go back to the classic recordings or, as I said, listen to a band that performs the classic tunes.
That's just the way it is when you are in a music genre that isn't a 100th as popular as it was back then.
Could you recommend me some good albums or artists please. I’d love to get into jazz but don’t know where to start. I’d appreciate that sir.
shareHard Bop is my favorite Jazz sub-genre. It is characterized by strong improvisation and is more challenging a lot of the time.
Here is a good list for starters:

Most classic jazz albums are available on YouTube so you can listen to them and try them out.
Thank you. I’ll give them a go. Appreciate it.
shareI'd recommend trying out different kinds of jazz music. It's as varied a genre as any, and chucking it all in the bin because you didn't like a couple of songs is a mistake.
Early jazz has an almost big band sound. Duke Ellington is one of my favourites, but you can also check out Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong for a similar old school sound. Louis is classic New Orleans. I find this early stuff to be really accessible.
I'm personally a big fan of Thelonius Monk. Round Midnight is my favourite of his that I've heard. Pretty sure Monk is classified as "bebop"... Speaking of which, Cowboy Bebop has a good theme song (Tank! - the exclamation point is part of it) that's fun.
For a very different feel, check out Django Reinhardt. He's one of the finest guitar players of all time, any genre, and can introduce you to "gypsy jazz".
Thanks for the reply, I’ll give them a go.
shareJazz is real, serious music. Whatever pop crap is in vogue with the IQ-challenged today will be forgotten within a few years, and jazz will still be important.
