Did the Titans kill off all the black people?

This isn't an issue but I was wondering if there is a legit reason as to why there hasn't been a black person in sight so far

reply

"All of the black people" seem to have been mysteriously killed off in 99.9% of all anime ever made.

reply

Show was made in Japan with a Japanese audience in mind.

they probably dont care too much if they hurt black/Arabic/Hispanic people's feelings because their skin color isn't represented on a cartoon aimed for japanese kids

reply

I disagree. Anime usually shows a vast array of different races. Even using animals and alien-looking creatures that walk around and talk normally with other humans. Anime is probably more diverse than any other animation. However, for this series, I think it may be true that all the Black people were killed off. After all, there is only one Japanese person left on the entire planet. And she is only half Japanese.

reply

Anime is actually pretty diverse considering that probably like 98% of Japan is Japanese. I can name a few black, German, Brazilian, Chinese, British, middle eastern, American, Dutch, and a few other groups from the anime I've watched

reply

Still, what's up with all the blonde, blue eyed Germans?

reply

More than likely, being that humankind was almost brought to extinction, and that the last full-blood Asian person on the planet was Mikasa's mother who is dead, and Mikasa is the only person left who has any Asian heritage at all (Half-Asian)...I'd have to say that it is very possible that the vast majority of races and ethnic groups have been wiped out.

reply

I have a theory that the timeline and geography fit with Germany in the early early 1900's. The architecture of the buildings, the fact they live in a mountainous region, the faces, the vast amount of blondes, the names (Erin, Jean... Armin is German for Hunter even), and then there's the opening title sequence and a few songs song in German. So how diverse do you think the population of Germany was in the early 1900's?

reply

diverse enough to have a half "oriental" girl apparently

reply

The names are very reminiscent of Germanic Europe, however, the German word for 'Hunter' is Jaeger.

reply

No the Black people along with the supposedly extinct Asians are hidden away. They manufacture The Titans to get them "Crackers." This is season 3-4 of Attack on Titan.

reply

Well, we see during the series that Mikasa and her mother are the last 'Orientals' in the entire place. I'm going to just guess that all the minorities are dead and there are only White people left...

the show is pretty obviously inspired by prussian culture of the 1900s. almost all the names are German, the buildings are Herrenhaus style. Prussian culture was all about discipline and order, which I thought was part of the theme in this movie.

reply

Could be possible that black people were smart and have colonies underground or something, on another part of the planet. Maybe they left Earth. Who knows

Characters talk about it like it's a theme in the early episodes.

The kingdom is then shown to have the least professional volunteer army in human history...

Seriously, there's insubordination and potential mutiny at every turn. Incessant griping and direct public challenges to their superiors by both officers and the rank and file. Blatant corruption and favoritism. A command structure that permits no official cooperation between military branches that isn't filtered through the chief military commander and encourages them to fight one another for power and influence.

And then all the shenanigans that went on during that big multi-episode battle for the second walled-in area, starting with the troops at the front-line called all the way back to HQ to sit around forever while getting "organized" (and arguing non-stop about that) and then people randomly taking charge and making haphazard decisions to advance or withdraw because they have no NCOs in their system?

The titans are supremely well organized and tactically coordinated in comparison!

reply

Yes, they were the first ones, tasted like chocolate.
