Easily one of the worst comedies I've ever seen.

I went into this expecting something at least on-par with Ted (while not being a cinematic masterpiece, it's plot made sense and there were a few laughs throughout). Instead I left wishing I could get my money back. I refuse to walk out of movies; I believe that I can't truly criticize something if I haven't seen it all the way through, but this was a struggle. I'm sure I'll get bashed for 'not getting the humor' and I realize I'm not 17 anymore, but I can't understand how anyone who knows what good movies are can think this is even remotely funny. I loved the premise, but the movie itself just didn't do it for me. I can laugh at the occasional fart joke, but these were terrible. If you're going to make a two-hour poop joke, at least have the decency to write a plot that makes sense. This felt like it was a bunch of jokes that his friends assured him were funny with no one but himself to critique it, then he slapped them all into a movie with a loose plot that he hoped would pass for a movie.

Worst? Really? And did we watch the same movie?

The entire film didn't even run two hours long unless you watched the unrated version. but even then with credits and the intro. Managing to cram in two hours of poop jokes is seriously impressive for a 135 minute film. Which, by the way, I'm not entirely sure is true. There were plenty of bits about the assorted ways to keel over, a training montage and the whole break-up and moping around deal.

But, seriously, I don't hardly think is the worst comedy you've ever seen. Any of the Epic/Disaster/Date Movies would easily qualify as the worst. Not to mention aberrations such as Meet the Spartans and Breaking Wind. Seriously. Those are some really crappy films.

This was at least passable, or, well to be honest. I found it quite charming to one extent parts while overly blunt in other parts. But that's kind of what I've grown to expect from Seth MacFarlane now and part of his "thing". He swings quickly between charming and cute to utterly distasteful.

All in all: I think everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think you're exaggerating. Just a bit at least.

I didn't say the worst comedy ever made, I said the worst comedy I've ever seen. I'm sure those dumb parody movies are terrible, and that's why I won't watch them. This movie, on the other hand, tried to pass itself off as a real movie. That's why I hated it so much.

Ted wasn't that funny either bud. The only funny part of Ted I can think of off the top of my head is the quote "i do not sound like Peter Griffin!"

I imagine I only laughed because I got the reference which, if you don't watch Family Guy then that joke will go over your head. A Million Ways to Die in the West however, gave many good gag and humor jokes as well as some very good cameos most notably Doc Brown from Back to the Future and some superb musical numbers. This movie wins my vote over Ted any day.

Made you look!

Yeah, it was about the time that Macfarlane was doing the CL-L-LASSIC 'shadow blow job' routine that I knew how bad the thing was gonna be.

Yes, this is truly one of the worst comedies I have ever seen, but then again, i dont watch many comedies, but this is still by far the worst. I dont blame anyone who walked out ealer in the theature, or turn it off earlier if u watched it on DVD or whatever. Family Guy's humor is really hit & miss with me, mostly miss. But this movie always misses. IDK? its just the comedic timing is way off & its just awkward & painfully unfunny.

PS - I love Shovel Knight :)

oh my gosh, came on here to rant and rave about how pathetic this "movie" if you can call it that is. to say that this movie isn't funny would be like saying when you find something good you like it. this is the most unfunny movie I have ever seen. and it has no creative life to it whatsoever when it comes to the comedy. I literally laughed 5 times at good jokes, that's it. cannot believe how bad it was. I feel embarrassed for everyone who worked on it. I give it zero stars out of ten. if this is Seth Mcfarlane's comedy quality then he is a failing comedian. It goes to show that just because you are good on the small screen doesn't mean you'll be good on a feature length movie.

Reading the comments on this board makes me laugh almost as much as I did watching the movie! If the really negative comments are because of the F word or toilet humour was offensive fair enough each to their own. But seriously if you didn't find it funny you clearly didn't get it and may have been too young, to get in to the cinema or have no sense of humour, and or are not worldly enough. In my opinion, to get it you need a deep love and appreciation of the western movie genre, a sense of humour and a broad mind. I wonder how many haters are Family Guy fans?

FFS some people try and compare all movies to Citizen Kane. Someone on here complained about lazy script-writing due to anachronistic dialogue, which is a worry, because that is clearly a deliberate humour device (people from that time are seeing their world as if through the eyes of people of today). A lot of great running gags are based around ironies or exploring standard conceptions we have based on our knowledge of life in those times compared to things we take for granted. The joke about not smiling in a photograph and the first guy that did was classic, as was the prostitute not sleeping with her boyfriend before marriage, and all the bizarre deaths, references to "people live to 35 these days" and marriage at 9. I especially loved the character of Albert's father, he was so funny. Many great cameos as well.

I'm from Australia and love my westerns and we have a fairly good, dry sense of humour out here, especially love irony. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece but it's funny as if you get it, I only went because I love Westerns, not really watche alot of Family Guy.

Our cinema was full of uproarious laughter and I bought the movie as soon as it came out and showed some mates and the barn dance song "If You Only Have A Moustache" (a reworked Stephen Foster song) has a mini cult status. And the references to a Moustachery. One of my mates said he's gonna quit his job and open a Moustachery. If you seriously didn't find it funny, didn't see the humour, didn't get it, don't worry it's probably not your fault.

You're dead, son. Get yourself buried!

I kinda liked it. Yeah a lot of the jokes fell flat, but i laughed out loud at quite a few moments in it.

The film has a certain charm to it and there are some fantastic scenic shots throughout the film.

Hardly the worst comedy ever made. Have you never seen a Wayans brothers comedy?!!

"Perhaps he's wondering why someone would SHOOT a man before throwing him out of a plane"

reply

Some Wayans Brothers comedies are bad! but not as bad as A Million Ways to Die in the West. I am willing to excuse a bad comedy if it entertaining, like White CHicks for example, I know its a horrible stupid movie, but the jokes still work & its still entertaining!!! Those are the perfect "turn off ur brain & enjoy" movies. But even if u turn off you brain for A Million Ways to Die in the West, that $hit still isnt funny, cuz its not even entertaining. Prolly the only Wayans Bro's movie that comes close to A Million Ways to Die in the West's $hittyness is Little Man, now thats a real piece of $hit.

Thank you for your real and honest critique of what should be one of the worst 50 movies ever created and placed on the big screen. The level of humor was below that of a 5 year old farting and unrealistically gross one liners that should never have even been written. How said is it the our society would even acclaim this trash film as a top 500? Seth go back to your cartoons and leave the real people to humans.

I hate this film so much, the most unfunny 2 hours ever put to film. I need to watch Shaun of the Dead again. Edgar Wright can actually write and direct comedy that elicits laughs from its audience.

This is not aimed particularly at you, rj, but could be aimed at most of the clowns posting on this thread. This type of humour is actually steeped in irony. A concept that seems to be beyond American audiences, in particular. I'd like to know what makes Blazing Saddles a "classic", but this is crap???? Some of you guys need to lighten up a bit - I think they done what they set out to do, make a funny movie, not a cinematic masterpiece. There was lots to like about this film. The cameos were very well pitched, the photography was excellent, and the gags came thick and fast. I'm not even a Seth McFarlane fanboy, so it's nothing to do with him in particular. Easily one of the best comedies I've seen in recent years.
