that they tried to sacrifice actual film making for hitting quotas of minorities and women. unlike more right wing people I don't think this is because of some SJW Disney plot to turn America beige and effeminate. But I think they did focus groups and crunched the numbers and wrongful concluded that "if we put women in it we wills ell more toys to girls and get more views in the theatre. if we put an asian in we will sell more to asian kids".
its not some progressive conspiracy, just a corporate mcidentity politics. but the last Jedi film sales drop and the massive amounts of toys that sat on shelves showed they didn't understand their core audience. it was like putting in a Native American lgbtq midget in die hard because you want to get away from foley appealing to "white men".
This is without even going in to the fact Rian Johnson confused good film making (or even the basics of filming) with subverting expectations...
men have always made them money and are the die hard fans. its like trying to make a barbie movie appeal to grown men. makes no sense.
you do realize the end of a sentence gets a period right?
"You could have stopped at " I don't think ""
See the thing is when you go the grammar, spelling and punctuation route because you as I said, have nothing to contribute and are just a leach. you better make sure yours is perfect.
how embarrassing kid. do you normally self own this much?
So you're saying that you own a pussy hat, and that you do not understand punctuation, do I have that right?
its not some progressive conspiracy, just a corporate mcidentity politics.
Corporations are in business to make money for their investors and shareholders. Franchise after franchise is losing their ass to the tune of $100s of millions of dollars per film with the 'Woke!' retcons. The total losses over the past 10 years run into the 10s of billions of dollars. That is neither a rational corporate business model, nor is it sustainable.
Your argument is that it is 'mcidentity politics'.
Break that down for us, what is it, how is it financed, and how is it able to sustain such losses? reply share
hahahah owned kid. you must be writing this from your shift at macdonalds because you are embarassing.
Lol you arguments make no sense. I may not like it but start wars is massively profitable. The MCU is massively profitable. again when you don't give specifics (some are losing money some are making alot) and just make vague statements you aren't taken seriously. break down what? how is what financed? how is what sustained??
you are a mess man. Jesus. try and argue coherently next time
Merch accounts for the greater part of revenue expectations, and it is not selling. There is talk of the Galaxy's Edge theme parks being re-purposed due to low attendance, TLJ performed well below expectations, and RoS is not expected to perform at all to expectations.
Captain Marvel was inserted into the lead-up to Endgame, therefore had a guaranteed fan-base built-in that wanted to stay current.
Black Widow's performance remains to be seen, but is promising. However, I believe she is not considered 'Woke!' by fans. I don't follow the MCU, so am not up on all the details.
Wonder Woman performed well, but she is DCU and not considered 'Woke!', at least in an in-your-face manner. The jury is still out on 1984. Again, don't follow the details on the superhero stuff.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Fantastic 4 2015, Ghostbusters 2016, Terminator: Dark Fate, Charlies Angels, Oceans 8 - the list goes on and on of movie franchises that have been losing their ass the past 5-10 years.
You obviously don't have a response, so I'll assume you can't answer the question - but then, you've already self identified as a hard core left winger, so no surprises with your lack of critical thinking skills.
Interesting to me that you think of the Wonder Woman movie as not being "woke." I felt like I was being beaten over the head with a message of feminine power when I watched that, while I felt nothing of the kind while watching Captain Marvel. You could CGI a male into the Captain Marvel role and nothing would change, while Wonder Woman was like being forced to audit a Woman's Studies course.
I didn't see it, so I'll take your word for it - was basing that assessment on the opinion of maybe 10+ movie geek and superhero nerd channels I watch in the evenings before crashing. Who knew that the debate between WW wearing heels or wedges could spark such passion?
I live my entertainment vicariously through the joy and angst of geek fandom. We'll stream a movie every few months, but that's about it since the nearest theater is around 100 miles away. Besides, the debates about these movies are more entertaining than the movies themselves.
That's the one big draw to the Bay Area, where I live, and SoCal. The state itself is a mess, but man oh Manishevitz the weather is near perfect year round. Up in the Yukon, or wherever you are, must be rough.
It's something my mom used to say, so I imagine it dates back to the '30s or '40s. Merry Christmas right back to you-- I suppose Santa will hit up your house before mine on account of how much closer his place is to yours.
I have to ask.....Why did you come to conclusion that the person you replied to is a "leach" ?
Surely, if you want to insult someone you need to reference to something personal to them and I'm not seeing anything "leachy" in this fellas post.
Also, why are you left wingers so incredibly unintelligent?
lol right wingers be like "why are the left so dumb. I hate socialism. the government can't do anything im against them"...."now let me drive on my socially funded road past my socially funded policeman to my kids socially funded school. Now im going to go to the store and buy my socially inspected meat"
It is a GOOD THING that women and minorities are in movies more now. The thing is: In movies like these latest "Star Wars" movies, no one, not the women and minorities, not the white people, get any character development.
But I think they did focus groups and crunched the numbers and wrongful concluded that "if we put women in it we wills ell more toys to girls and get more views in the theatre. if we put an asian in we will sell more to asian kids".
I'm afraid your theory is wrong.
1. If your theory was right, then the logical consequence would be to distribute ethnic group among both good and bad characters, to appeal to all of them. What's happening is that diverse characters are mostly cast as good guys while white males are cast as villains, psychopaths or clowns.
2. If your theory was right, the casting would follow potential audience numbers. Asians, for example, would be far more common than blacks
4. If your theory was right, there would no reason for characters to fit into ethnic archetypes (the charming and wise black, the tomboyish badass female lead, the cuck on strongens white male...). However, modern US movies cast in order to portray ethnic archetypes.
(That said, at least you use your brain. No matter you're right or wrong, at least you think)

finally some semi coherence. lets use last Jedi as our example since its out.
1. it proves my theory is exactly right. There are way more ethnic groups being shown in the lead, yet the overwhelming are still white people. Daisy Ridley, mark hammil, carrie fisher, Laura dean. Boom you hit women nd whites. John Boyega for African Americans and Kelly tran for "asians". there was only three main bad guys in the last Jedi. In the Star Wars tradition General Hux, is British, Kylo was white American and Smoke was alien. who says they would put more minorities in antaganist roles too? if the idea is to sell them as heroes and sell more toys and make it more appealing. you put them as heroes..is this really a confusing concept for you to get? For example in the last 80s with die hard and other action movies you saw lots of bad guys as Eastern Europeans. does that mean they also put them as leads? lol
2. Your mistake lies YET AGAIN like in point #1 in believing that " we have to have the exact minority representation in film". Like they say "okay blacks make up 25% of the population so we need 25% of the characters black. oh how will we hit that small Arab population. okay throw in 5% of the cast to be arabs" Its not this exact calculation like you think it is because you have shown you clearly don't understand it..
3.YET AGAIN you show you don't know anything. you use china as your example... CHINA HATES Star Wars so much they took it out of the solo name for release in China. also "Asia" is varying with different preferences. The ideal woman in South Korea is different than that of Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, china etc. She doesn't have to be the perfect model of their idea of beauty. The point they have her there is what counts. If I watch a movie do I feel more connected to a lead who is a white male (even if he doesn't have the stereotypical look) than say Tran leading a film? hell ya. Its about putting yourself in their shoes.. welcome to movie making 101 kid.
4. stereotypes are about easily digestible archetypes.... and Star Wars did try and do this. Our male lead boyega is often cowardly and often useless. Rey is brave and strong and capable. YOU LITERALLY PROVED MY POINT.
you are a joke kid. you got embarrassed. and you keep posting the most ridiculous points I've ever seen. I can't believe you actually read what typed and thought "got him now! he can't have a rebuttal to this"
you are a joke kid. you got embarrassed. and you keep posting the most ridiculous points I've ever seen. I can't believe you actually read what typed and thought "got him now! he can't have a rebuttal to this". hey kid go back to nitpicking grammar lol
My bad. For a moment I thought you were different from the standard SJW. Obviously, I was wrong 😕
---
Anyway, regarding the points.
1. There are way more ethnic groups being shown in the lead, yet the overwhelming are still white people.
You didn't answer my point. I was not referring the number of characters in this point, but to the distribution among positive vs negative characters.
2. Your mistake lies YET AGAIN like in point #1 in believing that " we have to have the exact minority representation in film"
The problem is that I never said there should be an exact representation. I said that if the audience was the cause of 'diversity', then the cast should logically represent the size of that audience. What doesn't make sense it's to focus mostly in the ethnic group that represents the ethnic smaller box office.
3. you use china as your example... CHINA HATES Star Wars so much they took it out of the solo name for release in China
Then it wouldn't make any sense to place an Asian character in first place. What doesn't make sense is to argue that it's places because of Asian audience, and then argue that it doesn't fit Asian taste because this audience is not interested in this movie, then why to include that character?
Note: Rose doesn't fit Korean or Japanese taste neither.
4. stereotypes are about easily digestible archetypes.... and Star Wars did try and do this. Our male lead boyega is often cowardly and often useless.
Boyega is still way more positive character than non-hispanic white males like Hux. And still most of the characters (badass female Rey, cuck white male Kylo, cuck white male Hux, cuck white male Luke, badass female Leia, tough charming streetwise Hispanic Benicio del Toro) fit the ethnic/gender archetypes. reply share
your post was a joke yet again. man you "logic" skills are completely broke. let me just use 1 since I'm tired of responding to such an idiot
"3. you use china as your example... CHINA HATES Star Wars so much they took it out of the solo name for release in China

China isn't all of Asia.... and they still do some sales there. Yet again this is why your brain is clearly not operating correctly. Rose dent have to be any stereotypical asian beauty. the fact she is asian period is enough.
lol omg man "badass female Rey, cuck white male Kylo, cuck white male Hux, cuck white male Luke, badass female Leia,"
hahaha sorry I didn't realize I was arguing with a total intel loser. LOL yes base female Leia is def a stenotype. you know all those stenotypes of women being action heroes and men being sucks. man you stayed up so late writing drivel. you are going to be way too tired for your mens rights meeting
China isn't all of Asia.... and they still do some sales there. Yet again this is why your brain is clearly not operating correctly.
It's operating correctly enough to have predicted your comment and have already answered it.
People who can't argue usually answer through (1) insults, (2) assigning to the other person words he didn't say (3) jumping to a new argument. Your constant insults are no news. However, I guessed you were likely to jump from China to other Asian countries, that's why I already wrote in my previous comment "Rose doesn't fit Korean or Japanese taste neither": so the same I argued about China can be argued about them. And China, Korea and Japan are the three big box office countries in East Asia, there's no more countries where you can jump there. Sorry, what you said was already answered before you said it.
Sadly, you're just another predictable SJW. you're boring me. Bye

AGIAN TERE ARE MORE COUNTRIES THAN JAPAN AND KOREA. She can't fit all the stereotypical ideas of their beauty standards because they are all different. but again. that doesn't matter! you are apparently too stupid to of read my response twice now. the fact she is asian period means the audience will connect more with her.
its like me watching two action movies. Ones staring a African female black woman. ones staring a guy who doesn't meet my countries standard of "the most handsome guy". no chilled jaw, no blue eyes, not muscular etc. do I still relate to the guy more than the woman? yes. I can't believe you are so stupid you can't understand this.
Also that is literally the three steps you did. you also went back and deleted comments. man how embarrassing. go back to nitpicking grammar.
Why would you admit that you are a massive left winger? Basically you are proud of being a dirt bag. You are either a wealthy special interest elitist or someone who wants to free load from the govt off the backs of working class people. That info should be kept to yourself. You should feel embarrassed
lol ya that's all who lives in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and Canada. Yep all just free loaders lol. which their higher social mobility and standards of living than the USA lol. Oh make sure you never use the roads, oh or government founded internet. ohh or the police or firemen. all dirty socially funded programs lol.
Yes im def either an elite or take welfare.. no I couldn't work for myself.. but think that maybe the government should be in charge of healthcare because it factually has better outcomes and stops pharmaceutical and insurance companies profiting off death. I am such a dirtbag. unlike you mr moral. lol.
hahahahaha I didn't realize how many incels were on here
im not american, but you are the stereotypical hysterical leftwing guy who cant do nothing except screaming and crying. there was no need to mention it, everybody wouldve known after 3 posts.
The entire DT was clearly developed by a internal corporate think tank. This is why there is so much "what would you identify as core to the Star Wars(tm) brand?" random inserts in the film - such as making sure there somehow shoehorn in things that dont make sense (mind tricks, random people using lightsabers etc) - it's almost parody level.
Yeah, I noticed this particularly with the Rebel's mission objective for the Rise of Skywalker film. Unabashed narrative action replay from the original films.
Then all of the similar situations and characters in film SW XI. It's particularly interesting to note in this regard that Abrams emphasised to the audience in the Chicago 2019 Celebration panel show that SW XI quote "needs to work as it's own movie" as well as completing part a trilogy of films. Is he under pressure to repeat cliches and references to earlier movies to nominally keep audiences happy (what Disney believes keeps audiences happy) and thereby attract revenues?
Yeah, makes sense. I think by talking about the merits of more diversity the corporate heads and executive creatives want to appeal to the current ideological culture which is pushing for more women and ethnic variety and more "power" in the hands of these groups because feminism has a market identity itself, beyond its ideological and philosophical roots. If you can design your product as feminist then you attract people who are feminists as consumers.
More than a symbolic numbers game of demographic categories it's also an ideological exchange in the more abstract identification process.
its just a big brainwash and propaganda. young audiences wont notice all this wokeshit, since they only know that kind of moviemaking. and they probably enjoy it. its a long term investment for getting more control and power. so we someday all can live in the marxist utopia ruled by women and minorities.
