Unrelentingly boring...

This is one of the worst movies that I have seen in a long time. I was hoping that it would be an interesting coming of age story like the far superior "Mud".

It wasn't.

It moved at a snails pace to tell a twenty minute story with cold, uninteresting characters. I scratch my head and wonder how movies like this get made.

If one person reads this and decides to do something else with two hours of their life besides watch "Joe", my good deed for the day is done.

Perhaps you have poor taste?
I mean... perhaps I have poor taste. Who knows, right? It's all subjective.

But trust me, you would not have been doing a good deed by discouraging me from watching this movie. You would have been doing me a great disservice, I think. Because I thought the film was WONDERFUL!

Now, having said that, I do realize that I tend to like less "American" films than many and the film could have been heavily edited if it was trying to appease the "American audience" and, you know, there could have been an actual love story ham-fisted into the film for seemingly no great reason at all other than the fact that American audiences supposedly can't watch a film without a love story of some sort... so I wouldn't suggest this movie to everyone. I'll certainly give you that.

On the bright side: the movie wasn't a huge blockbuster and targeting that audience. So it's not a question of whether the average movie-goer should watch this if you're making a "recommendation" in this movie's IMDB forums... it's a question of whether the average person that might be checking out this movie's IMDB forums should watch this movie at this point.

UM.... YEAH!!! You're talking about a person that actually uses IMDB forums and for whatever reason was checking out the "Joe" subforum! I think THAT person is much more likely than not to like this movie... and if that is indeed the case then all this "public service announcement" would be doing is trying to discourage people from enjoying something they were more likely than not going to enjoy.

So... SHAME ON YOU!

And look, I'm sorry you didn't like it. That sucks for you. Art is like that. We all have our personal tastes. Me? I hate a lot of very popular movies. I thought Jurassic World was so unbelievably bad and the rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed it. They're not wrong. I'm not wrong. No one's wrong. That's just the way it is. And I'm glad they watched a movie they liked... I wish they hadn't dragged me to it sorta... but whatevers.
