I liked it, hope there's a sequel.

Sometimes I just look at the ratings and reviews for a movie and I just don't get it, and this is one of them. It is often the case for sci-fi movies. I thought the story was good and original and I liked the way it was told; the pacing was good. There was character development, something that is rare these days! The acting was okay, but Chloe was pretty good. It didn't have annoying camerawork or editing. Sure, it had the teenage love story stuff going on, but it fit into the context.

I see comments saying things like "worst movie of the year" and it makes me laugh 'cause I watched two worse movies just this week. Also, the Hunger Games movies are much, much worse than The 5th Wave. The Scorch Trials was worse too. All those movies have higher ratings. From reading the comments here and elsewhere, all I see is people mocking the movie but not bringing any valid criticism that warrants such negative reviews.

As a guy who only liked the 1st Twighlight ... liked some elements of the Hunger Games ... (that political one second to last was good), I liked Maze Runne and I thought Divergent was okish. But as for The 5th Wave I don't see and understand the hate on this one, ok the plot is a little ludicrous but it has good plot twists (some I could see coming) and good action.

I wish the aliens would have revealed themselves properly.

When it comes to this movie, I like the whole thing about the end of the world and apocalyptic themes and women being the heroes. However, the whole romance thing was annoying and it ruined the movie for me. I think the code name things for the kids was stupid, too.

There would have to be a sequel because the ending was a total fizzer.
