I liked it, hope there's a sequel.

Sometimes I just look at the ratings and reviews for a movie and I just don't get it, and this is one of them. It is often the case for sci-fi movies. I thought the story was good and original and I liked the way it was told; the pacing was good. There was character development, something that is rare these days! The acting was okay, but Chloe was pretty good. It didn't have annoying camerawork or editing. Sure, it had the teenage love story stuff going on, but it fit into the context.

I see comments saying things like "worst movie of the year" and it makes me laugh 'cause I watched two worse movies just this week. Also, the Hunger Games movies are much, much worse than The 5th Wave. The Scorch Trials was worse too. All those movies have higher ratings. From reading the comments here and elsewhere, all I see is people mocking the movie but not bringing any valid criticism that warrants such negative reviews.

I totally agree! Except I happen to like The Hunger Games a liiiiiittlee better :p

reply

I liked all three. I also thought Scorch Trials was better than expected, but I would put the 5th wave as second best after the hunger games.

reply

Sorry, but those brainless kids movies are all turds...

Well, Kids just don't know any better.

If you're suggesting that this is better than The Hunger Games, then please stop.

The Hunger Games is a franchise. Catching Fire is far more superior than this. Much better than the first film (The Hunger Games). And the box office numbers show that. Mockingjay part 1 and part 2 both got better reviews AND performed better at the box office. So you dare to say that The 5th Wave is better?

The 5th Wave was a flop, and the chances of it having a sequel is very slim.

reply

The chance may be slim to none, but the movie didn't flop, it wasn't maybe the success they expected but a 38M movie making around 110M can't be considered a flop.

I completely agree! I have not read the book yet, but I felt that the movie was outstanding. I think Chloe did a phenomenal job as Cassie. Nick and Alex were wonderful as Ben and Evan, and Zackary was adorable as Cassie's little brother! Liev was the perfect Colonel. The story was very believable and kept me wanting more. My biggest criticism was I did not like Maria Bello as Sergeant Reznik. She annoyed me. I'm not sure if she just over acted the part, or if it was written poorly - again I haven't read the book.

Other than that, I do not understand all of the negativity. I read all of the Hunger Games books and I agree that this movie is much better than those movies I think some people, especially guys, just get turned off if there is any hint of romance. I am very excited to read the books now, and I too, very much hope there is a sequel - And SOON!

reply

I watched it because of cast. Chloe did a phenomenally horrible job, and the whole movie was incredibly awful. I hope there's never a sequel

reply

My favorite are the two maze runners, then hunger games

reply

I liked it and toward the end it reminded me a little of Red Dawn, only with aliens. A sequel would be worth a look see.
