While I do know about under aged sex, doesn't make it legal, nor does it make depictions in movies any less worrisome.
Besides, I do not think it was necessary in the movie and did not add anything to the plot.
The age of consent is different all over the world.
Here in Australia for instance, it's 16. We can also drink alcohol legally from the age of 18.
I've personally always found it amusing that most American "teen" movies and TV shows show teenagers aged 16/17 (however the actors are usually IRL around the age of 25) drinking at parties, having sexual relationships, etc.
You can see why so many people get themselves "in trouble" when this is what they're exposed to and they're conditioned with. It's confusing.
If 80% of our population is eliminated, do ou really think the remainder of the population is going to abide by the law? It is sad to read or listen to the news; we have a lot of crazy people out there.

shareIt's called reality. Filmmakers sometimes like to portray reality in films. I know, what were they thinking? Legal age of sex with a minor isn't 18 everywhere, not even in the US. In my state it's perfectly legal for a 22 to 23 year old to have sex with a 16 or 17 year old -- that's about the age range you mention, right?
But put all that aside: this is a film about, basically, the destruction of the human race by aliens from outer space. I don't think people would really care about certain laws during something like that. I can imagine: People are speeding down the highway and you, as a cop, pull up and issue them a ticket because IT'S THE LAW!
I'd be more disturbed by that than whatever uptight crap you're disturbed about.

Only 11 states in the U.S. have 18 as age of consent. It's below 18 in most of the U.S. and nearly everywhere in the rest of the developed world. It's pointless to argue with Mother Nature. Young adults fall in love with teenagers and there's nothing unnatural or deviant about that.
shareAll those kids running around knowing that tomorrow could be the last day of their lives? I should bloody well expect there would be a lot of Under Aged Sexual Relations. But that's not what this show is about, so the writers didn't write in anything about that, or the impact it could have on daytime activities.

I understand your point but it seems like an over reaction in the context of a movie where aliens have just killed probably 90% of the human population. In another movie set in modern day, this would of course be, not disturbing because this happens all the time around the world but at least worrisome. But in a post-apoc world, even a 14 year old having sex would not be disturbing. They're biologically capable of doing it. It's just that we as a society have decided that they're not fully capable of informed consent until they're of some certain age and that age varies from place to place.

From a book/movie standpoint: I think all laws and rules are wiped away during an apocalypse.
I am one who would execute all those who are involved in enforced sex and therefore for the abuser of the under aged. I also have to suggest that when an arbitrary AGE of CONSENT is agreed by those that be then there are no holds barred. If 16 is the legal age then a fifty year old doing the business has been legalised. That is why I would suggest that the age of majority should apply to all things at the same time. It used to be 21 was the key of the door age. With people living longer perhaps age restriction should be raised not lowered. After all shagging at 16 and driving a car but drinking at 21, going to war at 18, voting at 18. Now drinking a cup of COFFEE is a no no until when????
The actress herself has not entered that age of majority and no doubt there was a virtual count down for some in their dreams of when it was legal to cream themselves over her photograph.
Not seen this yet but I have liked the young lady and the roles she has played, who not so long ago was a child. Kick Ass 1. I do however think that the young talents rarely are untroubled in this hedonistic world. Do hope she does not become a Lohan, Hilton, Spears. Two of those ladies could have had it all until the end of time with the talents given. The other I am afraid is not even that attractive.

I agree that with the end of the world being nigh some of the blokes woudl be hoping for a Darwinian evolutionary change in the male reproductive areas so they could repopulate.
Just imagine that sex will in the future be by touching fingertips and ingesting a chemical to allow a mental flow through each other after testing compatibility. Will age matter so much then? SEE BARBARELLA. In the day I would have even accepted that just to be staring at Fonda so close.

Anyway over in the UK the age of consent is 16, so it is an irrelevant observation.
