no love from guys

From the looks of the reviews on here, it appears that The Bletchley Circle gets no love from men. As a guy who enjoyed it I find that sad.

I'm male and greatly enjoyed it. One the finest British period crime dramas I've seen in recent years, much better than Foyle's War, George Gently, the dreadful Marple or the later Poirot adaptations and a real shame it didn't continue - although it was a pity Anna Maxwell Martin didn't stay the course.

One of the reasons I liked it so much was the fact that it avoided nostalgia, retrospective analysis of the period or soap-box grandstanding about social injustices; it just matter-of-factly showed the world 'as was'.

That's par for the course for imdb boards.A group of young men who pan anything that stars a woman, pays a woman a lot of money, or IS a woman vehicle. You can see for yourself. Read the "reviews" for any Melissa McCarthy Movie (like Spy) and Amy Schumer.

They feel really threatened, I guess, by media that focuses on women as the main characters. I find that perplexing since I, a woman, like movies that focus on either women OR men.

I am a blokey bloke who loved this show, didn't feel threatened in the slightest. It was a shame the cast was forced to change within such a short run and I guess TV throws things like this up, brilliant shows, which through something untoward, never get the run they deserve. Some shows deserve to be snuffed out at the pilot but this could have run a good few years longer.

Another guy here. I absolutely loved this show and was crushed when it wasn't renewed for a third season.

It's ok, would rather they stuck to more to solving crimes than the constant hitting you over the head with social issues.
