Probably the worst dreamworks film I've ever seen.

I don't know there was just something pretty off about the whole film. The ending was predictable, and the soundtrack was unbearable for me because I didn't think it fit. I don't know, maybe I just have high expectations of dreamworks films.

It was fun and entertaining. I could hear everyone around laughing out loud throughout the movie. I enjoyed it and so did my kids. No masterpiece, but there was nothing wrong with the movie that would make it the worst.

Jim Parsons was extremely annoying in it, as was his character. I thought it was just the trailer... but nope, the whole movie was like that.

He annoys me period, so that's no surprise

I found the film to be very enjoyable myself. Yes the ending was expected but so what? Most movie endings are predicted as soon as the conflict is established so it's not like anything is truly 'unexpected', it's just the journey and growth we enjoy watching and seeing resolved.
The music, to my surprise, was actually decent. Usually I cringe whenever songs are played in a movie, but the soundtrack to this movie wasn't too bad. I personally am not into pop music and probably won't be following Beyonce, but I still enjoyed how they flowed with the story.
When my friend and I saw it, the theater was packed with kids and their parents who laughed and gasped at all same parts we did. Some kids behind us who quoted "My hands are in the air like I just do not care!" perfectly with the scene. A bunch felt bad for Oh and Tip and cheered whenever something positive happened to them. Even one of the ending scenes silenced them because of its gravity in that moment. Only bad part at that point was these annoying women loudly chatting about who knows-what behind us and interrupting the moment. Besides that, it was an enjoyable experience and I have no regrets seeing it.
True this film isn't really DreamWorks best, but I definitely don't think it's their worst. I enjoyed the animation, story, and characters and will be making plans to see it again with my friend when the kid crowds thin out so we can watch it a little more closely without too much crowd noise.

I definitely agree with you. I felt like this movie was rushed and way off. But I did enjoy it and so does my nieces. For kids, this would be a great film to watch, for us adults maube we are too critical too enjoy the simplest of things. 7/10 for me.

I like spoilers 😀😂

I gave it a 7/10 too, but not because I didn't enjoy it. I was surprised at how engaging I found both the plot and the characters. Of course, I expected the graphics to be good, but didn't realize how stunning the environment would be. It was as pretty as Big Hero 6 (another film I never expected to find aesthetically pleasing). I scored it lower than I would something that I'd consider classic material. But, now that I reflect on how much I enjoyed it, I realize I need to adjust my score.

I posted this in another thread:

I have kids from 12 to 2, so I've pretty much seen every kids movie from the 2000s and "Home" has been one of the dullest experiences ever! I really don't care too much about plot or substance as long as my kids and I are entertained, but I felt enormous desperation and anxiety during the first hour of the movie. Maybe it was the broken English or the voice of the alien, but it was very annoying to the point of discomfort. Am I the only one that felt this way?

I only really liked the last 10 minutes where the movie showed some sort of "meaning" or "lesson". Definitely not buying the DVD much less watching again at the theater.

At the end, I expected Jim Parsons to pop up and yell "BAZINGA!"
