The flag at the end...

why was it shown with such dramatic effect? American propaganda?

reply

I know for a fact I was the first person to create a post about the flag and it had a shedload of replies, how come my post dont exist anymore?

but well done lil-viet for kinda resurrecting a similar thread.

reply

I hope yours wasn't as lame azz as this thread.

It's a weird American thing. In all their shows or movies you'll randomly see 'The Flag' in the background. I do not know why. I rarely see this (unless its Government related storywise) in other mayor international tv/films.

reply

Um...maybe they aren't patriotic? This is the dumbest thread.

reply

Indeed. Dumb. And then the OP doesn't even respond in the thread...that irks me...why start a *beep* starting thread and then just sit back and read all the stupid comments?

If you are seriously asking that question - what country wouldn't fly it's flag after a devastation like that? Get help stat.

Although the unfurling of the flag is supposed to tug at our heartstrings, I don't expect anyone but Americans to understand it. The same thing happened during 9-11. People (including myself), flew an American flag outside their houses (and on their cars) to show support that we will rebuild and survive. Those that are calling it "American Propaganda" should ask themselves these questions: Why does every country on Earth have their own flag? And why do some countries think so much of their flag and what it stands for, imprison people who don't salute it? Or kill them outright? It's a movie, get over it. I enjoyed it for what it was: An update of the 1974 EARTHQUAKE. A little patriotism never hurt anyone. I guess you don't watch war movies? Remember Iwo Jima? The most famous statue in the modern world. We are a proud nation and relish our flag. A lot of countries would kill to have what we have. Those that doubt what I am saying should look up the history of flags. You may be surprised in what you find.

If you look carefully in the background, there's a second very big flag painted on the hospital ship.... Canada.
