Elisabeth Moss' Performance.

How good would you say that Elisabeth Moss' performance in this show is?

I'm honestly at a loss to all the glowing reviews of her performance... Just finished the season and thought she was absolutely woeful. Couldn't deliver a line to save her life! And those blank, awkward and wobbly face expressions! I was actually regularly cringing while watching. Was she really supposed to be a trained policewoman??? It seems I'm in the minority with this opinion though... Maybe that says something about me! Oh well :)

I agree wholeheartedly with you.

She was great

For the most part..yes, Moss is really quite good. Watchable, never overdoes it, holds the center of gravity with confidence.

But her accent slips very badly when she first talks with GJ, who, playing an American with an (albeit toned down) Southern accent, probably brings out Moss's own Americaness. If you watch it the scene a couple of times(I'm getting all caught up via YouTube episodes) it's really quite glaring. Moss is American all over again.

Not that this is stopping me from watching the episodes...

No comment about the performance, but her character was a totally incompetent police detective.

You have to feel sorry for poor EM. No amount of even her best acting could save her when the story and the writing and the character and the directing is that bad. Moss must feel awful about one of her worst performances being the best thing in one of the worst things!
