This film was definitely not "extremely disappointing", at least for me, but I imagine numerous others. While I'll agree that the end was a bit farfetched, they kept it down a notch to keep it from being too Stallone-like.
I was actually quite surprised in what I saw. I read the storyline and it sounded like it might be boring, but worth a shot (Colin is hot or cold with me at times). The dialogue was done in such a way that it was brief and to the point, but piercing and full of message. Hard to describe, as I'm not a big reviewer. I'm also not big into romance, but this film's version was quite cool.
I actually gave this film an 8, and I rarely give above a 6 except to really good movies with great attention to all components that make a film (casting, dialog, etc.). I was at 7 because of one particular scene, but was unable to recall it because the rest of the film made it easily forgettable. I bumped to 8 because of the retro style, solid casting and I found it to be the best film I've seen this year I think (hate me whatever). It probably should be a 7, but I was in the giving mood.
