Anyone has other credible options, like Amour or Prometheus?

Not even close. "The Master", "Rust & Bone", "Amour", "Beasts of the Southern Wild", etc.

How can you even have seen all the films released in 2012? It takes years for the great stuff from foreign countries to even seep into Western consciousness.

"Holy Motors" was utter crap, by the way.

It's one of my three favorites (along with Amour and Stories We Tell) so far. I still have several to see, though, but these three are going to be tough to topple.
