I don't know if Denis and Hollywood are smart enough but here's the theory:
Denis makes another slow but beautiful and futuristic Sci Fi flick. It makes enough box office to get WB their money back..but the payoff is there's enough awesomeness in the movie that it will eventually develop a cult following, thus a constant stream of revenue for a long time to come.
Just like the original!
who actually reads the runtime before seeing a movie? i know i dont. i didnt even know it was 2:43min until i looked at my watch after the end credits.

shareThe first one got a cult following by actually being deep and good, AFTER a few viewings. And the effects and sets WERE AMAZING.... not just typically modern CGI green screens. I can't see anything being deeper or better in THIS one after a few viewings. Just some pretty, yet, unamazing CGI. ((All CGI is unamazing because we know about it))
