This or Alien:Covenant?

Which do you think has more potential from what we know so far to be the better film?

reply

Blade Runner may be the better film. Denis Villeneuve (a confessed Blade Runner fan) stated he would only direct this if he liked the script.

With Prometheus, a decent film for what it was, the script was a disappointment. If they had stuck to Spaihts' original script it could have been great. For me, reducing the space jockey to a large man in a spacesuit was just ridiculous.

This one, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed. The original Blade Runner is my favorite Sci-Fi movie of all time.

IT"S apples & oranges both are cool, I don' compare and if exist in same universe Im down with that.

Make's the trend Marvel & DC are doing all the more intriguing with Blade Runner & Alien universe's as well.

Who would have thought?
Aside from the Comics that is.

My honest opinion is that Ridley Scott has lost his touch the last 10 years or so. Not surprising considering his age.

Blade Runner 2 has a much, much better chance to be at least decent, if not very good. Hollywood doesn't make great movies anymore so don't get your expectations too high.

Understood perhap's that may be the flawed fault of Technocrat Corporatist committe descision maker's over the actual crew film makers?

This, the cast looks great. The cast for Alien Covenant however looks just as goofy as that of Prometheus. James Franco and Danny Mcbride? And Guy Pearce again? Can't they just cast a friggin old guy? I think Ridley Scott is going senile tbh. I love most of his movies but everything post gladiator has been very dodgy. He can't make up his mind on what kind of Alien movie he wants to make. He keeps striving away from surreal Gigeresque dark sci fi. Granted, i'm sure Alien Covenant will look amazing...as his movies always tend to.

Denis hasn't really done sci fi on the scale on Blade Runner though. Arrival was pretty much regular modern day stuff, with minimalist spacecraft which oddly enough almost look like the saucer from the intro of Prometheus. So in that sense, i'm still a bit worried about Blade Runner. Blade Runner is the opposite of minimalist, its dirty, gritty, detailed and lived in.

Alien: Covenant has that awful Prometheus hanging over it's head. I had such high, high expectations for Prometheus and then Kaboom! it was a complete soul crushing movie in the vein of Indy Jones 4.

I don't know about you, but after so many Alien disappointments(Alien 3, AVP, Alien Resurrection, Prometheus) I'm never going to get excited about another Alien movie premiere ever again.

You just know Scott will treat Covenant merely as his next movie, just like with Exodus. To him it's just another day on the job. I forgot the name of the director, but he was quite right when he said Ridley Scott no longer has ambition.
