Which do you think has more potential from what we know so far to be the better film?

shareThis for sure
shareAlien
While I'm sure there will be stupid ideas at times in Alien Covenant, Ridley is at least back and it's looking good so far.
Blade Runner 2049 could be great, but I'm not sure the director will be able to match the original in terms of style.
Villeneuve doesnt need to match the original in terms of style, since he has a style of his own and is an unique and artistic style. Kind of the style Ridley use to have decades ago. It is precisely because of Villeneuve style and terricif filmography that he was chosen to direct BR2. He have an impeccable carrer so far, so im far more excited to see his movie than Ridley´s.
shareBased on what critics are saying about Villeneuve's Arrival, I have to go for Blade Runner 2049. Also, after Prometheus and The Martian, I really no longer have faith in Scott.
Blade will easily be the better film. Alien will be the more entertaining and 'popcorn' of the two.
shareWait, you mean you didn't like The Martian? O.o
shareAlien is the safer bet in my eyes
shareThis. Prometheus sucks.

Blade Runner is more of an unknown, at this point. Could be amazing, could be mediocre. It will undoubtedly be interesting.
On the other hand, Ridley Scott has a perfect record with sci-fi movies. They were all either brilliant (BR), box-office hits (Alien), or both (Prometheus, The Martian).
I think Alien: Covenant has more potential, if only because that universe allows for a more ambitious, unexpected, expansive universe. Blade Runner is claustrophobic, and it's going to be hard to come up with anything new for them to say that wasn't already covered in Scott's previous three movies featuring robots. The bar has been set so high that only Scott himself could reach it, imho.
Blade Runner cause the director is actually very good and said he would only accept to join if they had a great script. He is also a huge Blade Runner fan from what I read so I have faith in him. Ridley Scott has lost his touch in the past 10 years. Although The Martian was a step up.
sharelook at this director's track record. has not disappointed yet!! and i doubt that he will for blade runner sequel
