Deckard is not a replicant.

He's aged in the teaser trailer. He is in fact a man.

I never bought the replicant theory anyway. Glad to see it.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Deckard could still be a replicant, but maybe he only burns a tenth as bright as Batty and the others.

In the authorized book sequel, he was not a replicant. In the original short story, he was not one either. The movie writer, screenwriters, etc all said he was human. Harrison Ford, also said Deckard was human. It was only Scott that later on, claimed otherwise. The ending would been ruined for him to be a replicant- because it was about being more human than human. Roy, at the end, loved life and wanted to live far more than Deckard understood, or could himself. It showed how this machine was more in love with life, than an actual human was; a human who was lost in the despair of the current world.

Wether he was a replicant or not, I just hope the plot for this sequal not to be about Ryan's Character being the son of Deckard and Rachael. I could see something like that being the twist to the original story line. If there's no lifespan on older replicants, then who is to say they can't multiply? Or it could be a crossbreed half human/half replicant.

The whole point of the movie is that life is fleeting and precious and to live every moment so best you can, be you man or machine. To take away that ambiguity by making a Deckard a replicant trashes the entire message of the film. I very much hope this film doesn't broach the topic at all and continues to leave it vague and unestablished. However, I fear this film is actually going to be a soft reboot of Scott finally reinterperting his "Final Cut Vision" of the concept/story from the ground up.

He's a Replicant. Old Harrison being in the sequel only means one thing : greedy studios like big names. They did exactly the same thing with the T-800 in Terminator Genysis : desperate fanboys were all "yeah, it makes sense, because, you know, the organic tissue thing, blablabla", but all I saw was an old Schwarzenegger in a lame movie.

Now, does it mean 2049 is gonna be lame ? With Villeneuve in charge, I doubt it. All I say is that Harrison Ford being in it doesn't mean much. It may NOT be a bad thing, if the writers are talented enough... but I think they should have kept his character out. I wasn't much interested in seeing old Han Solo ; this time, I'm not interested AT ALL. To me, BR is the kind of movie that isn't meant to have sequels. The only reason why I'm willing to give it a try is because of Villeneuve.
