This is going to be one of the greatest films ever made

I don't say that lightly, I have always kept hype in check. But I have never been as confident in a production as I am in this. And the reason for that was the selection of Villeneuve to helm. Yes the cast is amazing (Gosling in Drive proves his demeanor is perfect for this world, Jared Leto is solid in everything and I'm hoping he's a Replicant, and obviously Harrison). But Villeneuve is going to bring such life to this, he is an absolute genius. One look at the gas station parking lot scene in Prisoners and you just know that his aesthetic in this sequel is going to be incredible with an actual budget behind him. And the fact that he has already stated he's making it his own rather than just copying Ridley makes it that much more exciting and genuine. Not to mention Harrison said it was the best script he's ever read.

The hype train is real for this one. This will be one of the greatest films of all time, and I say that in absolute confidence. Mark my words!

I'm sure it'll be watchable, if not even entertaining.

Poised to explode onto theater screens as the greatest pinnacle of creative achievement in human history, this film will redefine the word epic.. This movie deserves more than just a hype train; it deserves a hype hyperloop.

Ok, let's not go overboard with overenthusiasm. We don't know what we're in store for. Villeneuve is a great director, hands down and the cast is great, but we'll have to wait and see. For example, American Hustle was some overhyped piece of crap that they threw out to be in Scorsese style just in time for the Oscars. It was truly unmemorable and people realized that. Obviously Villeneuve was not the director of AH, but he's only human and error may come out of this. If we look at the facts, we have an apparently good script, a tight cast and a director who has made some good pieces of cinema. I think if the film has a true Euro touch and feels almost independent, it'll be in good waters.

I was probably joking. .(-;
I wouldn't necessarily expect this thing to be
'the greatest creative achievement in human history.' .(-;

As I wrote in another thread, up to now I am "not in any hurry" to see this film.
("... Not being in any hurry to see this, I'll [probably] wait a few more years until it's
legally free on Crackle or something.. I've streamed things you people wouldn't believe...")

Nolan, I love you forever!

I am definitely looking forward to this sequel, getting convinced too! Director, actor choices, few concept art I've seen.. Even the composer is a convincing alternative for Vangelis. Villeneuve's style could turn the world even darker, keeping the story mystical and captivating.

Depending on your level of general optimism, that could be every film ever made. So basically you are saying this film will be a film that was made.

That's really neat.

Yes, the hype train clearly is real.

I would be VERY surprised if it actually is 'one of the greatest films ever made', but audiences these days see greatness - true greatness - so rarely now that mediocrity is celebrated as greatness.

But if this film shows even 1/10th of the imagination, ambiguity, and thematic depth of the original Blade Runner, it should turn out to be a perfectly acceptable night out.

Another Ridley Scott re-make/sequel; How many times has Blade Runner been altered and re-released?

The original Blade Runner was good because it was based on a Philip K. Dick short story. Like 2001, it had so many futurist advising on the production. The idea of global warming turning L.A. into a tropical rain forest and the residents unable to go off-world speaking a mix of German, Spanish, Japanese, and street talk were well-thought out.

If Blade Runner 2049 can be done with as much attention to detail, I look forward to it, but greatest film ever made? :-)

It was not a short story. It was a novel.
The mixed talk was just a street talk. Created because of the variety of races and cultures living in the city.
The ones who stayed on earth were the ones that couldn´t afford to go off-world or didn´t pass the medical exams.
