Season 5 must be the FINAL one!

I'm sick of seeing those two getting away with everything. The writers have extended this fantasy world way over to the point that there is so little bearing on the reality left. Apart from the farfetchedness, the writing quality in overall went down the drain. Especially in season 4. The writing was so bad that me and my wife gave two pauses while trying to watch season 4. Each time we had hard time convincing ourselves to return to watching it because it is not fun anymore. It took us 3 months to finally finish it last night. I remember I has binged the first season in a single week.

We need our revenge, we need our reckoning, we need to see Underwoods pay for all the horrible stuff they did on Season 5. So unless Netflix announces it as the Final season we will not be watching it.

100% agree. I actually wish this show hadn't went past 3 seasons...but here we are.

The fall of the Underwoods is overdue, they've been getting away with murder--figuratively and literally--for way too long now. The story is verging on becoming ridiculous (some may feel it already has!).

It took me 6 months to watch season 4 because I thought season 3 was so terrible (Netflix seems to have an issue with season threes in general when it comes to their Top shows, Orange Is The New Black season 3 was godawful) but I thought season 4 was a clear improvement.

After two seasons I actually thought this show had a shelf-life of 3 seasons. Frank had risen so much by doing so many awful things in the first two seasons, that I thought in season 3 he'd crash and burn in an epic fashion and that would be that. But instead the show turned into a generic political drama, which was really disappointing. I haven't rewatched any of the seasons so I'm constantly a bit out of the loop now, so many of the things that happened and Frank did in the first two seasons were side-lined and borderline forgotten or ignored in S3. So when they re-surfaced in season 4 it took me a while to remember what they even were.

I'm in a weird place with the characters though. I absolutely detest Doug, but apart from that I go back and forth. Sometimes I'm still rooting for Frank or Claire, sometimes I wish everything they have done will be exposed and they (especially Frank) will be brought down. I wonder if we will get a multi-episode arc of Frank's trial in some later season, that could be pretty cool.

I think the show picked up big time in season 4 so I am feeling a bit more optimistic now, but I do hope they won't go over 6 seasons.

I genuinely hope Season 5 is it. It probably won't be, because I can't see them resisting the temptation to push for an even 6 seasons, but that's just my personal opinion. They've struggled to stretch all these subplots out and create all this filler and it's really beginning to made the show less interesting.

reply

I agree about stretching out both the main plots and the subplots. The issue with dragging out the middle of the story line is that they have to come up with worse, nastier, more outrageous behaviors, events, and so forth to top the preceding ones.

How much further beyond any sort of reality can they go before imploding the show? I don't know. Some people do seem to want it to go on like this forever. Others, like me, expect some kind of traditional conclusion with the fatal flaws resulting in the protagonists comeuppance.

reply

I hope its the last season and thats on par with S1 and 2 they cant drag it on for much longer. Season 3 was pretty bad and 4 wasnt that great either. I hope season 5 doesnt continue that trend and makes me regret ever starting on the show. Season 3 was really bad and a great indicator that season 5 and should be the last .

AGREED!

CANCEL THE SERIES, NETFLIX! Because QUASITHEONE and his wife will not be watching!!

reply

The whole point of the series is to tell the audience that Frank can't be defeated and that people up the food chain will continue to remain who they are without facing any consequences.

In the last two 'seasons' of the original UK version Francis starts straight up killing crowds of children and orchestrating car bombings and *beep* He also dies at the end. I'm curious to see how far the US version is going to take it.

reply

I'm just curious where you got that information. Are you speculating or do you have a source?

reply

Agree too. We actually liked season 4 but it felt like the show really has anywhere to go after another season. Now that things are out either they are caught and its over or they figure out a way to get over it which means it will just be another cat and mouse in season 6. Some things shouldn't run forever but its popular so all that matters. It sucks when shows don't end on highs but basically on fumes which this now getting.
