Tired of fans acting like they're 'smarter' than non-fans

I've been reading threads on the show and the movie to try and grasp why people like this and all that I keep hearing is that its "absurd humor" and that is in someway intelligent and you are intelligent if you like it. But from those arguments I've found nothing to support that. Its like people who love watching bad movies and and think that they are great. This is something that is so horrible that its somehow good. Unfortunately, I do not feel this way. There is no intelligent humor, ideas, plot or sense at all to this show. And fans will tell me "that's the point". Well you're not a genius because you enjoy chaotic idiocy, your brain dead. Maybe you like the chaos because your tired of the order of other shows or even the order of society. Well then please, remove yourself from society. Go live on the street or lock yourself in your mothers basement and stop taking the breath away from the relevant people in society like this show is taking away the breath of creative writing and intelligent humor. Whatever joke this show tried to play on is long since dead and it needs to go away.

I don't believe that us fans are smarter, it's all about taste. You like it or you don't. Anyway why does it 'need to go away'? Thats bulls***. If you don't like it, than ignore it! You don't have to like it, but if there are people that do, than it serves a purpose. You don't 'grasp' why people like it because your arrogant. You think because you believe something that everyone else is an idiot for thinking differently. Besides, if you want to rant about how much you hate T&E go somewhere else, this is for reviews from people who actually watched the movie. And anyone who's thinking 'I don't agree with this guy, but I can't think of anything to say so I'm going to CORRECT HIS GRAMMAR', just *beep* off.

reply

Intelligence is not a factor here. There really isn't anything to "get" in the show or movie. Most of the jokes boil down to them doing something gross to each other and dick / poop jokes. You either laugh, or you don't. I found myself laughing a few times, but mainly because of the absurdity (the Shrim part for example). There are some times you can tell what they were going for, like emulating old 80's info movies. Other times I think their main objective is to take a situation, and say "What is the most ridiculous thing we can do here that nobody has done before?".

reply

Us fans aren't "smarter" than non-fans, whatever the hell that means. Us fans are just more "mentally ill", or supersane, than non-fans.

'Us fans are just more "mentally ill"'

what? half of Hollywood's comedy scene must be mentally ill then. I don't see how the enjoyment of ironic/satirical humour would have any correlation with mental illness, even if you're joking. It would imply the opposite, actually.

reply

Don't read too much into my gibberish.

It was just me writing nothing about something.

Non-fans just like to wrongly say that us fans must be mental for finding any humour in Tim & Eric.

ah, I've never heard anyone say that.

People who like these guys are not smart at all this is the lowest form of humor there is. I dont get these guys at all there just ugly dudes who do weird stuff. Its like Gummo but trying to be funny.

Stupid people are, by nature, unable to realize they´re stupid. Dunning-Kruger effect, look it up.

What else could this possibly be about?

Is the movie good or bad? It's neither. Nothing in the universe is ever good or bad until it has an observer with an opinion.

What's the observers opinion based on? In this case...MANY things.

Determining factors for this particular movie:

- Do you like Tim and Eric Awesome show great job?
- Have you seen Tim and Eric Awesome show great job?
- Do you hate offbeat comedy like Tim and Eric but you went to see it anyways?
- Did you expect more from Tim and Eric?
- Do you worry people think you are not smart?
- Do you often side with the mainstream opinion?
- Do you take joy in belittling people who you think are stupid?
- Do you hate mainstream media?
- Do you find the movie funny?
- Do you find the movie to be not funny?
- If not funny, could you still like it for other reasons?
- Do you hate people who like things just for a reaction?
- Do you like things everyone hates just for a reaction?
- Do you love offbeat comedy?
- Are you normal or strage?
- Are your friends normal or strange?
- Is your family normal or strange?
- Do you like strange people?
- Do you hate strange people?
- Do you like normal people?
- Do you hate normal people?

I mean...I could go on, but really it's "My brain VS Your brain" and in the end there couldn't possibly be a right answer because it's a subjective opinion.

In my subjective opinion...People who say films are terrible are often inconsiderate, and judgmental. They are usually people who think everyone is an idiot, and they hate idiots. They of course have no idea by calling people names for liking a movie makes them more of an idiot, and then there's me...The guy who gets frustrated about message boards full of arguments based on subjective opinions because nobody realizes there can be no conclusive answer because we either like things or we don't. Trying to change a persons opinion is manipulative, and completely unnecessary.

Yeah, fans might be smarter than non fans...or it could be that they've just taken a lot more drugs (e.g. shrooms, LSD, ketamine, salvia, 5meo-DMT, nn DMT, MDMA).
