If Romolus was this incredible research base why didn't Weyland-Wutani salvage it?

Instead a bunch of kids found it, does that even make any sense?

Yea i had a lot of thoughts like that too. Wtf

I’ve seen the fiilm twice and wasn’t sure, but upon further thought in reference to previous Alien films, maybe WY didn’t want to ship out the Alien to a new research facility until they were able to bypass ICC customs and regulations. In essence they didn’t want it to be impounded and seized or destroyed by ICC agents.

It sounds like the Interstellar Commerce Commission has a lot of power in both original Alien films.

I was thinking this also when I watched it. You'd think WY, with its vast funds and resources, would be all over it well before it got to the planet, especially with its (initially slower) impending crash.

It could have been an off the books black project. Only a few back at the home office knew about it and when they found out they lost control of the xenomorph and the ship was compromised, they scrubbed everything. Maybe even directed the ship remotely into its collision course with the ring planet.

Cost reduction and outsourcing to India.
