Adding politics and pro-Hillary crap means less viewers now...

Why did they have to go there? Watching Jess being "pro-Hillary" isn't cute or endearing. It's just disgusting and repulsive. Why inject any politics at all in to a show like this one? Now, a lot of people including myself can never look at the character the same way again. Why didn't they have Cece join the Nazi party and show her having a zany side Nazi adventure while they were at it? Same thing in this case.

I certainly won't be watching any more.

but by the end they didn't show them in a very good light...they were happy to register voters but not ones who didn't support their candidate...that's shady

They tell them to register online. The point is they were campaigning for Hillary Clinton. Neither would it make sense for them to campaign for the opposing candidate nor would it make sense for the girls to actually go through with registration at a Hillary Clinton backed campaign...so they bailed.

Also, Jess is a very flawed character, and she's been shown to have contradicting ideologies. She's just as much the butt of the joke as the sorority girls or the mean democratic campaigner.

It's been the subtext for quite a while in the show - Jess is seemingly pro-liberal and I suspect Zooey feels compelled to push the Democrat candidate especially in the face of the (other) travesty that is Trump. I agree that they should leave party politics out of the show but it doesn't surprise me that they would use it as a platform.

I'm a libertarian RINO who's glad and not surprised Jess is a Democrat, because she's such a ditz; but I really hated last night's episode. Not because of any political bias in it (Schmidt, probably the smartest of the bunch, was shown as being a Trump-hating Republican) but simply because I tuned the show in to escape from politics--and bam! I felt sandbagged.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It was disgusting and not at all funny. Zooey dressed up as Trump was so cringy. When I read that the episode was going to be about the elections I was hoping that the presidential candidates were going to be fictional characters. I'm not even American and I was highly disturbed by the glorification of Hillary and the negativity about Trump. For better or worse he's a presidential candidate and probably has voters who watch(ed) the show. Huge, huge mistake.

It was hardly pro-Hillary, and really very little Trump-bashing except for Jess's imitation at the end.

If you follow American politics at all, it should not surprise anyone that Schmidt wasn't portrayed as being pro-Trump - he is a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, something which Trump is decidedly not.

Make no mistake: the vast majority of Americans are not thrilled with either candidate, but Jess, Cece and Schmidt's beliefs were true to the characters as we know them. Things were played for laughs with very little political proselytizing. No need for anyone to get their dander up.

I wouldn't even call that Trump bashing at the end. Most of the phrases she threw out were attributed to Trump well before he ever declared his candidacy. It's not like she made fun of some of his policy statements.

I agree, and it really made Jess and Cece out to be morons. They were basically saying 'we're voting for Killary because she's a woman', so ignoring the fact that she's a liar, traitor, and hate monger, who by all rights should be in prison. They're just blindly voting for a woman president.

I know this is supposed to be a comedy show, but this episode was extremely non-funny and contrived. It's not like SNL, who makes fun of both parties and candidates equally, and it's good natured fun. New Girl obviously had an agenda here.

I'm done with the show too. The mostly because I just cannot stand Zooey any more. I will watch to see what the other actors do next but I have absolutely no interest in watching anything Zooey is in any more.

Probably one of my favorite episodes. The writers did a bangup job of working the politics in while keeping the characters on point.
And of course, the Trumpsters will hate it. The have no sense of humor when confronted with jokes about their lunatic candidate....and most of them have no sense of humor to begin with, anyway. Ergo, all the "last time I'll ever watch this show" posts here.

When you lose the ability to,laugh at yourself, you've entered a pretty dark place.

Trump has used Nazi Propaganda to attack black people.
He has said he can't get a fair trail with a judge of Mexican heritage.
He is still trying to say the Central Park 5 were guilty after DNA proved that they were innocent.

And these are just the tip of the iceberg, his actions get worse from their.
